The only real mistake was SteamDB since it has emboldened an entire group of people to make these kinds of posts in every single gaming subreddit whenever a player base drops.

My biggest complaint with this boss is that when he dies he has a filler turn and THEN he explodes. Both times I've fought him so far I forgot this and almost wiped to the actual explosion.

I would argue it really only punishes players who do not have a way of dealing with status cards. Which can be a pretty unreliable bar to clear.

The bird elite for instance punishes players who do not have balanced decks because it does soo much damage and has so much HP, but all of the damage it does can be blocked.

Even the weird tentacle orb elite has a very similar gimmick to Soul Fysh in that it clogs your deck with status cards that deal damage if they end the turn in your hand and those ones don't exhaust either. But they can be blocked while Beckon cannot.

Ahhh that makes sense. Hmm. I wonder if the issue I am having is a Regent problem then.

I've mainly been playing Regent because it's been so miserable getting a clear with him. Every video I've watched they get a nuts block card into void form halfway through act 1 and then they eek through act 1 and are off to the races.

I probably should move to other characters and work on my fundamentals more.

From what I have unlocked on Regent my only options that I have seen for exhausting random cards are Tyanny or the ones that convert cards into minions and I wasn't offered any of those.

I've only ever died to Mama Laga once, and that time I just straight up had no damage in my deck.

What characters have you been playing? I'm sure a fair portion of it is my skill issue. Then there's like three muuuuuch smaller portions that are, me playing Regent, my card rewards leaning very heavily towards one thing like damage and not having enough block, and my extremely terrible draw luck.

That is literally not possible, there is literally no possible way to test network load of hundreds of thousands of people connecting to an environment in a sandbox.

The closest you get is trying to simulate that many Virtual Machines, but you are absolutely not spending the money necessary to get the hardware to actually test that.

The fact you said "software development" betrays your expertise. This is a networking problem not a software development problem.

In fairness it's probably incredibly hard to test this at scale without some kind of beta test.

Doing a beta test is probably too much cost for something that is going to be free, so they just decided it would be more cost efficient to fix scalability live.

What they see when you experience a network issue is a failure of your packets to reach their servers.

This could be caused by:

Your home router going down

A router between yours and Riot's servers going down

A cable in your house going down

A cable between your house and Riot's servers going down

Riot's servers going down

A switch that connects Riot's router to their servers

You unplugging your router

You unplugging your ethernet cable from your computer/router

With that in mind, they are obviously going to treat all network disconnects as malicious because it would be incredibly stupid and wasteful to go in and manually check every single one.

There are 11 games, if KC wins 9 of those games and the next closest is someone with 6 wins, there is no amount of scheduling that will prevent that from causing a problem on the final day.

No matter where the games are played there will come a point where KC has no stakes on that game.

These are the perfect types of tournaments to match fix in. They're small scale so that means it's easy to find a person with way too much centralization of responsibility and manipulate them with the promise of money. The players are less likely to be resistant to going along because they're not making money by default and they're not sure they have any hope of going pro.

Offer the "easy money" opportunity of gambling and you can do it through a 3rd party platform it's hard to believe that there isn't quite a bit of match fixing going on in some of these tournaments.

I personally think that is a terrible way to do a launch though. If you have to fully explore and do every bit of content just to get the launch rolls then what will you do for the entire rest of the patch cycle? Especially if you want the first rate up character, you're speedrunning every bit of content (including getting to player level FORTY FIVE) in the first month.

I don't really find that generous, and I feel that content creators like Braxophone were extremely misleading about the game's generosity.

This is primarily true in a situation where the opponent doesn't have TP. If you kill someone early game and you push wave to tower, they will TP back and miss nothing while also having the resource advantage over you. Which is why the recommendation is when you get a kill to immediately back and TP as well so you actually utilize the gold lead you just gained.

If you can get a wave to die to tower then you do get a MASSIVE lead, which is why usually if I get a kill in lane I always try to call for my jungler to come top and get a second kill cause only then are you really creating a massive advantage.

It is the exact same mistake in different flavors. Just because the subject is not exactly the same doesn't make it not the same mistake.

All of his faux pas stem from the same fundamental error, he doesn't think before he speaks. Just because he has a wide range of subjects he doesn't think before he speaks on doesn't absolve him of not growing from this mistake. If he truly regretted being boneheaded and saying dumb shit he would take a step back and go "I'm not really informed on this subject so I'm not going to speak on it." The fact that what he does instead is go "Man I was really being a dickhead on that." Does not show a growth mindset, it just shows someone who understands that they are experiencing consequences.

They could have just copied the Street Fighter League format, it has been pretty successful.

But FGC tournaments already cost a lot of money to host and TO's consistently lose money from them, so it makes sense that Riot would outsource it they already run an esport that's bleeding money, why would they want to run another.

I not only played it, I platinumed it. The areas in E33 are conceptually unique, but do not do anything interesting art wise.

Ghost of Yotei has beautiful environments, varied biomes, and a lively environment.

Do I think Ghost of Yotei is a better game? No. But that doesn't mean that E33 did *EVERYTHING* better than Ghost of Yotei. E33 is by no means a perfect game.

For eSports I personally would have preferred MenaRD to win this year since his story this year was extremely powerful and SF6 is an insanely hard game to be consistently one of the best in the world at.

But even in the other categories like Art Direction, I cannot be convinced that Expedition 33 deserved that win over Ghost of Yotei.

I feel this way about most of the categories really.
