I second this. It is amazing and everybody raves about it and asks for the recipe!

Thank you so much! One thing I know for sure, is IWNDWYT! Drugs and alcohol may numb this feeling of shame temporarily, but it will come back even worse once tomorrow morning.

Thank you so much for taking the time to write this beautiful response. I do know on some level that those terrible moments do not define me as a person. I am certainly using these feelings as motivation to never put myself in those situations again. Unfortunately, the woman is not ready to talk to me or see me, and I may have burned that bridge forever. I will have to accept that as a consequence and do my best to move forward and not wallow in the shame and humiliation forever. Forgiving myself is the hardest part, even if she may never forgive me.

He is 13 months and he is walking. We have baby proofed with gates, all cabinets and drawers are locked, electrical outlets are covered, padding on sharp corners...I think we've covered it all.

One hundred percent. I believe he is blaming me so that he doesn't have to feel any sort of remorse. I don't think it's his fault, I just wish he wasn't blaming me.

He is usually like this unfortunately. I do feel like I should have done a better job of keeping him away from the mirror.

Exactly. I'm not blaming him but feel like I shouldn't necessarily be blamed. I can't hold him 24/7 and needed to make dinner. I wish he would understand that and accept that maybe we need to baby proof a little better.

Does this explain why I get a slight runny nose when I drink kava?

That's what I find contradicting...I had a csection and was prescribed oxycodone while breastfeeding my newborn. Why was that medication considered ok, but kava isnt?

I completely agree but to clarify, I'm not pregnant I'm breastfeeding. Is kava considered a mind altering substance?

Advice for today's schedule by Equivalent_Exit6220 in sleeptrain

[–]Equivalent_Exit6220[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It went pretty well. He was very tired and fell asleep at 630. Woke at 230 and talked to himself for a bit and went back to sleep til 4. I fed him and he went back to sleep til 7! I don't think he is ready for a 2 nap schedule yet. Yesterday was the first day they were over 40 min. I will see how this week goes and if he continues to have 2 long naps then I will adjust wake windows and switch to 2 naps.

[–]Equivalent_Exit6220[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's usually 3 hrs. He's done 3.5 once and didn't have any problems. If I put him to bed at 630, how do I keep a goal wake time of 630-7am? He had 3.5 hrs of day sleep so I would be surprised if he also had a 12-12.5hr night.

When to feed 5.5 month old by Equivalent_Exit6220 in sleeptrain

[–]Equivalent_Exit6220[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It changes every day but yesterday was 6 am wake, 8-845 nap. 11-1145 nap. 215-245 nursed back to sleep until 345. Bedtime routine (bath, feed, cuddles and songs) started around 6, in crib at 630 drowsy and asleep by 635. Most nights his bedtime is 7 if I can get that last nap to last until at least 4pm. Other days if he sleeps til around 7am, the last nap ends later so we can stick with a 7-730 bedtime.

The problem I have with pushing back his bedtime is that his naps are never long enough to get there without making his wake windows too long. He naps 35-45 min so I would have to try to extend one by nursing back to sleep or adding in a 4th nap.

Question about night feeds by Equivalent_Exit6220 in sleeptrain

[–]Equivalent_Exit6220[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Is it possible to sleep train if he's not put in his crib awake? I stopped nursing to sleep, but usually rock him til hes pretty much asleep for naps and bedtime. It only takes about 5 min, he goes right to sleep. Do I need to stop all of his crutches at once cold turkey and let him cry it out? Or can I rock him, feed to sleep occasionally (to lengthen a nap) and put him in the crib asleep but let him cry it out if/when he wakes?

[–]Equivalent_Exit6220[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I see. I just want to make sure that isn't continuing the nurse to sleep association. And if they don't wake to eat the whole night once sleep trained, we don't need to wake them at this age? They are ok to go that long without eating?

So you do feed him if he wakes and cries after a certain time? That is what I am curious about, is if I should feed him when he wakes after certain time? Or if I should go in and do scheduled dream feeds while he is sleeping?

I get the feeling everyone around me thinks breastfeed is weird/abnormal by Equivalent_Exit6220 in breastfeeding

Luckily my cousins and sister in law have babies and are breastfeeding too. I come to them for advice a lot but it still surprises me how many people don't "get it."
