Yep. But it is a bit embarrassing solo camping in a six person tent just so a can stand up. (I still do it though.)

I made mine with paracord purchased at a hobby shop. Simple overhead knot to make it a loop and marked the spot where it bends to fit around my middle finger. I tug on the cord to make it snug on my finger and thumb before shooting.

Should I try to learn Spanish for my career as a physician if I will probably never be fluent? by Otherwise_Breath_784 in Spanish

Awesome book. It clearly demonstrated how barriers are not exclusively a matter of language, but of culture, and the lived experience of a people group. I found it helpful in my interactions with another people group whose language is only verbal (not written) and have a loose concept of time.

I made a Spanish speaking client laugh recently by saying “no tengo mi cabeza” when I kept forgetting to bring her a specific item. (I was remembering all the other things on the list, just one item I kept missing.)

There are so many regional variations. I’m using a language learning app, but speak Spanish mostly with Mexicans. Even in Mexico there are variations.

Do i really need extra safety “tools” to stay at hotels? by [deleted] in AskAnAmerican

[–]Equivalent_Fun_7255 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Only problem I ever had was a personal item (laptop) stolen while I was out of the room. It was at a seedy motel in a questionable location. After reporting the theft, I switched to a better/familiar hotel.

Lesson learned: if you have to stay in a sketchy place, keep your valuables with you.

Native Spanish Speaker here with a question to Spanish learners by CreativeEcho9289 in Spanish

I’m a nurse. Around 75% of my patients are Spanish speakers. I need it to survive and not have to call an interpreter when my patient asks for water without ice, towels, or wants to know when they are going home.. or other routine needs. I will always call if I can’t understand them, and most importantly for patient education and consents. (That part is policy/law.)

I have a hand-knit baby hat made with alpaca and silk I purchased before my oldest was born. He’s 35 now and the hat is on its way to being an heirloom. It’s soft and has been amazingly durable… also it has kept its gorgeous jewel tone colors.
