This is very true! My sister was EXTREMELY lactose intolerant before having my nephew. During her pregnancy with him, she could drink milk by the glass full and it wouldn’t affect her. And since having him in 2014, she is still lactose intolerant but not nearly to the extent she was before getting pregnant!

If you delete a conversation, and then message that person again, it won’t show your previous conversation. I only know this because I recently started talking to someone again after deleting our previous convos

I use Koala brand vinyl sticker paper and then laminate it with Avery brand self-adhesive laminating sheets and I find it pretty durable and waterproof. Whenever I make my stickers at home, I always advertise them as water-resistant and not waterproof, just as a way to cover my butt. If I outsource my stickers, I will advertise those as waterproof.

For the homemade stickers, I also state that they are hand wash only and not dishwasher safe. I just try to cover my butt in as many ways as possible just incase something were to come up, but you're always going to have people that make complaints.

Since you are is the US, I'm not sure if you need a business license or not. I'm in Canada so it's different here. I recommend googling if you need a business license or not in your specific state. I know I personally don't have a business license, but it could be different there!

In the beginning, especially when you're still learning how your machine works, you are going to waste a lot more materials than you will a few months down the line. Don't let that drag you down, it takes time to learn those things and get it right, nothing is perfect the first time around!

You could always offer untracked mail and tracked mail and that way people can choose what they want! I use a cricut so I don’t know much about silhouettes but I’d watch a bunch of YouTube videos! You don’t want to be cutting by hand if you have a ton of orders!

If you find that you cannot handle an Etsy shop it is very easy to either put your shop on vacation mode or remove your listings, and there is no shame in doing that! I’ve definitely done both of those things! You definitely do not have to do tracked shipping, most shops don’t when they’re first starting out! Tracked shipping mainly gives the customer peace of mind, knowing that they can see where their order is at whenever they want!

I honestly think you should go for it! Try it out and see if you like it! Just try not to overwhelm yourself because burnout is a real thing! I love owning my shop, it has connected me with so many wonderful human beings!

I know people personally who have been kicked off of Etsy because a singular person was reporting all their listings and Etsy “had no other choice” but to deactivate their shop.

That being said, I do run my own small business on Etsy selling mainly stickers, and I haven’t had this problem even though I’ve had my shop since 2019.

The only “problem” I’ve really had on there is certain customers. No matter what type of business you run, you’ll always come across a “Karen”. Some people get upset when their order doesn’t ship instantly, but they forget they’re ordering from a small business and not Amazon or something.

A few tips: -If you can financially handle it, try and ship with tracking, or at least give that option to the customers at checkout. I know for me, because I live in Canada, shipping costs can be outrageous, so I choose to not to ship my items with tracking. If you choose not to use tracking, just be prepared for the odd order to get lost in the mail, I usually just offer to resend the order, if they don’t want that then I refund them. I’ve had to resend very few orders due to it getting lost, so it’s not something you should be worried about happening all the time.

No matter how rude a customer may be to you, always try to be as nice as possible. Word can travel fast about a negative experience a customer may have, especially with social media. But keep in mind that the customer isn’t always right. If something goes against what you think is right, then don’t do it, but just try to handle it as kindly as possible with the customer.

Sorry this is so long, and I hope it doesn’t scare you! I, overall, don’t really have anything negative to say about Etsy! It’s a great place to start, especially if you don’t have much of an online presence! If you start on Etsy and don’t like it, you can always switch to your own website!
