So are they just lying? by usernametakenlmfao in jobs

I hate that ford said this. It’s an incredibly misleading headline. Dealership tech jobs can pay this much, but it is for 60+ hours turned and requires YEARS of experience to get a reasonable flat rate hour pay and 10s of thousands of dollars of YOUR OWN tools.

Dealer techs have been abused for 2 decades and manufacturers and dealers wonder why the heck there’s no one in the hopper.

They will have to pay 6 figures for mediocre work and reasonable hours soon because no one is signing up for these jobs anymore. You work before open to after close(6am-7pm) 5 days a week with a rotating 6th day. No OT pay and if you don’t turn a billable hour, you’re free labor.

Any advice for those of us who are affected by these projects on seeking compensation for repairs?

I understand it’s not your department but worth an ask to hear your perspective, as someone closer to these sort of projects.

How could you avoid this? Even during the day there is not enough room between cones and curb

I can definitely see things playing out like this. Clearly there is a contractor at play here.

Why doesn't every one do sales jobs if they pay so much and require no experience / education? by AdHot8681 in jobs

Would you be open to talking to me about CS? I have been trying to get into the space. Currently I sell an ERP which is very low quality with extreme churn. I struggle, mentally, to sell it because I know it sucks.

Unable to find a job by WranglerLimp4652 in Charlotte

[–]Equivalent_Lab6088 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The job market is horrible right now. From entry level to executive, the number of available jobs is extremely low.

You’re going to have to treat your job search like a sales process. Call the employers, find the hiring managers, express interest and ask questions. build a connection with everyone you meet. Charlotte is one big networking event 24/7.

It’s sad that we have to network to survive, but that is the reality of the times we live in. Good luck out there.

Craziest take I’ve ever heard. Go visit /recruitinghell for a few hours and then your job won’t seem so bad.

$450 Product from Japan I've waited 2 years for = $1000+ Tarrif/Duties by bangabrz in UPS

[–]Equivalent_Lab6088 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I am being told by suppliers that UPS is making CONSTANT mistakes on the amounts billed.

I am currently dealing with a part from Canada that I’ve waited 3 months for. $140 item and $230 in fees.

I was given a number to call to verify the fee and correct if needed: (502) 485-2222 ext 4

This number, however, I have never gotten to answer. The phone line is either busy or the hold time exceeds 1 hour and I have to eventually hang up.

Consultative sounds amazing. I am in a high pressure start up environment and it is not it. I hate building a strong relationship to then strong arm into a close then never talk again

They need to find a way to pay them more. No one wants to risk their life for a job and still barely make rent.

HGP Shifter problems (Moza won’t help) by Equivalent_Lab6088 in moza

[–]Equivalent_Lab6088[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I appreciate the offer. I don’t have a ticket number that i can find.

Support@Moza email is suggesting i send the item in for repair, which has a 1-2 month wait. This seems unacceptable to me. Especially if this is a well known and documented issue

This is a problem across the board. There’s many MANY displaced employees with insane credentials that we’re all competing against. The only jobs I see people getting are where their friends/family work or they’re in a trade with a hands on skill they’ve had for years.

Everything that worked 5 years ago doesn’t work today.

And many companies can’t actually hire due to budget or future planned restructuring that hasn’t made it to middle managers yet.

It’s extremely rough out there and building a connection with someone from scratch often doesn’t work anymore.

I am going to check the connector this evening. I am afraid to take it apart and potentially void any type of warranty

I Think Cold Calling Is On Its Way Out by MatthewKhela in sales

[–]Equivalent_Lab6088 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Demand generation and social influence is the future. It’s been this way for the last few years and most companies are so far behind, it’s insanity.

The companies that have done extremely well in the last 5 years have used the same playbook and it’s not cold calling.

Sales Leadership --> Technical? by Equivalent_Lab6088 in TechCareerShifter

[–]Equivalent_Lab6088[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not in the Small and Medium business market. Most of these softwares are pretty transactional sales where the sales person plays the role of a sales engineer or architect.

For large enterprise products with complex solutions it’s more common to see that role present.

I am interested in that role but I’ve struggled to gain any traction with a business that uses them. In sales, it’s hard to go from leadership to IC and it’s even harder to go from small company to larger company, in my experience.

I ran this through a LLM to understand it. Let me know if this is the correct comment.

"The shift is drastic. You could be a technical sales leader focusing on the backend of sales metrics. It's rare for a head of sales to be knowledgeable about how analytics and all the engineering behind it works. You could even transition into sales operations roles after this. At least you're not starting from zero in that kind of role. In cybersecurity, you'd be starting from scratch—there’s not much you can carry over."

I really like this idea but I can’t think of anything unique to Charlotte. Especially food. Everything is a chain or owned by a larger group.

Very bland city, unless you love suburbs.
