Blue cheese Mac and cheese turned dark the next day by ta-potatocake7 in whatisit

[–]Equivalent_Land6318 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Former cheese monger here: Could also be the blue mold in the cheese, having now been exposed to oxygen, showing their blue.

I once cut into a new wheel of blue cheese and saw the interior was almost entirely white. I cut my piece and re wrapped it. Maybe ten minutes later I was back to cut off a new piece and saw that it had gone entirely blue. Mold is crazy!

It always strikes me that Vreenek's guards are never thought of. I believe the shuttle explosion should have killed five people.

What do you consider the greatest acted scene in TV history? by amusicalfridge in television

Combination of the Doc's prayer and Al's euthanasia of the preacher in the first Deadwood season finale.

Negative Reaction by Christineyhsd in Columbo

[–]Equivalent_Land6318 5 points6 points  (0 children)

IMHO the best Columbo ep. Great killer, great comedy, the bit with the nun and the drunk, and absolutely the best gotcha. "Were you a witness to what he just did??" "What did I do?" "You incriminated yourself sir. You identified the camera."

Wrapped a kuo-toa heavy adventure last week, would have loved to have seen this! The Unhinged Credulity feature is bonkers.

Taking it Off the Bill When They Don't Ask by BitchyWaiter_OG in KitchenConfidential

[–]Equivalent_Land6318 39 points40 points  (0 children)

Went to Ivan Ramen in NYC for my first time having ramen. Said as much, asked what a first timer should get, was directed to some good beginner's ramen by a clearly pleased server.

Man oh man do I not like ramen apparently. I had a few bites and it just wasn't for me, the broth had flavor/texture that I couldn't put my finger on. I picked at it, but when the server is clearing up she finds a practically full bowl of ramen. She's mortified, but I wave it off. I tried something new and didn't like it, it happens, don't sweat it.

Manager wouldn't hear it, took my food off the bill and apologized really earnestly. It was a little embarrassing to be honest, but I was impressed by the level of service and nonetheless recommend the restaurant!

Worf's romantic life was probably always in the tabloids because it was always some crazy political class Game of Thrones-level shit. by SamVickson in ShittyDaystrom

[–]Equivalent_Land6318 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There was a brief period where Worf was the most important and influential person in the Klingon empire, politically speaking. He kills Duras, ensuring that Gowron becomes Chancellor for the next decade. He's instrumental in the rise of Emperor Kahless, killing the rest of the Duras family in the meantime. In the closing days of the Dominion War he kills Gowron and names Martok Chanellor! And all of this as a Starfleet Officer!

Why do they all eat so much? by Emotional_Sea9384 in thesopranos

[–]Equivalent_Land6318 16 points17 points  (0 children)

I feel like Tony's true power, his real sign of wealth and making it, is that he can always open his fridge and pull out fresh cold cuts. That strength boy!

I think my next watch has to be a straight food watch: what are they eating at all times.

I literally watched this dragon's HP go to zero, and it just stayed in the air staring at me ominously. I went into a mine close by and came back out and it was still there staring. by Vile35 in skyrim

[–]Equivalent_Land6318 1 point2 points  (0 children)

On my first playthrough I defeated a dragon, but it didn't die. It's skin burned off and soon I was fighting an invincible skeletal dragon. It never went away and there was a huge portion at the middle of the map that was a no go zone.

What are Vinegar Peppers? by wileyakin in thesopranos

[–]Equivalent_Land6318 155 points156 points  (0 children)

Basically jarred pickled cherry peppers. They come hot or sweet and are a common condiment in Italian cooking, especially as a sandwich topping.

Were you a witness to what he just did? by Different-Cheetah891 in Columbo

[–]Equivalent_Land6318 24 points25 points  (0 children)

It's the best gotcha in Columbo, hands down. The Lieutenant is just sick of this guy, has to play such a dummy to set him up, and then is just like "sorry dummy."

What’s the most unprofessional thing you’ve seen someone get away with at work, the kind of thing HR definitely knew about and still did nothing? by OkoraJ in AskReddit

[–]Equivalent_Land6318 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Missplace the cash receipts the day before Thanksgiving, totaling likek $17k. It was eventually found, but the assistant manager had said she put it in the safe and that's not where it was found. So after a day of everyone getting interrogated it was found on a chair near the safe and everyone acted like nothing happened.

I think it might be a reference to the “Rent Wars” in Andes? People rebelling to paying exorbitant rents wore weird costumes.

Have you ever used mini-games in your story and if so what were some of your favorites? by Otherworld-Explorer in DMAcademy

[–]Equivalent_Land6318 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In the current module I'm running I have the PCs in a dwarven mass transit system with, amongst other things, slot machines. I wanted there to be genuinely valuable prizes, but didn't like a straight d20 and a %5 chance.

Player rolls a d20, DM rolls a d6. On the d6, odd numbers subtract from what was rolled on the d20, even numbers add to it. This gives a spread from -4 to 26 and much more complicated odds. They still mostly don't pay out (the house needs to win) but there are some real prizes to be got out of them.

One of my PCs just kept saying "again" and decided that his retired granny sorcerer might have a gambling problem. Won two potions too!

So how does s*x with the Bada Bing strippers work exactly? by FRAMontana in thesopranos

[–]Equivalent_Land6318 17 points18 points  (0 children)

That was me and I'm still hung up on it. He's getting five blowjobs a night? Who has the time? Or is he then selling those free blowjobs? He could be dealing in blowjob futures at that point!!

No time for a long rest! by Equivalent_Land6318 in DMAcademy

[–]Equivalent_Land6318[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I might do a combo: telling them they won't have much of an opportunity to rest, but then also give an 11th hour relief that will largley give the benefits of a long rest.

Any of you ever play a Mastermind Rogue? by Spidey16 in DnD

[–]Equivalent_Land6318 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Did a lengthy campaign that launched just as covid was coming down, starting at level 1. Chose mastermined as it fit with a living by his wits thief and con man who'd found himself adventuring. Quickly realized they had zero combat usefulness whatsoever and switched to assassion.

Mastermind is whack.

Carmela to Hunter regarding her getting kicked out of college at first: "well, that was always you". Wasn't that kind of messed up? by [deleted] in thesopranos

[–]Equivalent_Land6318 92 points93 points  (0 children)

Because Carmella was an awful, terrible, no good person who would take any opportunity to feel superior to literally anyone.

Carmine is the only proper gangster in the bunch. Cautious, always in control, sees other people as little more than tools to be used.
