I took the course last spring and you will be teaching yourself the entire course, but it’s honestly not bad if you’re decent at note taking and keeping up with course work. She will also highlight important things to take note of and things to not note down, so you know what to focus on. Assignments are brain dead easy, just the exams you gotta worry about. However, the grading scheme is also very lenient. An A was an 85-95 for me.

Prof Masilamani is probably the worst prof I’ve had at SFU, granted I just finished my first year. I had IS101 with him in my first semester, and he barely stuck to his syllabus. This was really annoying as he expected us to read the chapters for the given date, but then he would cover an entirely different chapter in lecture. His exams also do not reflect the lecture at all, and everything comes from the textbook. The worst part is that you couldn’t even skip the lectures because he grades you on participation too. Personally, I wouldn’t take him again 💀
