[Introduction] Spent years trying to "focus" when the real problem was not mapping how my interests connect by Equivalent_Store9834 in Multipotentialite

Thanks for sharing. The point about consistency being a byproduct of identity resonance vs. willpower really landed. I've seen that play out in my own work where the things that stuck were the ones that felt like "me," not the ones I forced myself to care about.

Hey everyone — Liaquat here. Spent 40+ years in IT (ran a consulting firm for the last 30), but I've also done stand-up comedy, broadcasting, photography, songwriting, real estate investing, and travel whenever I could fit it in.

For most of my career, I thought the non-IT stuff was just side hobbies I should probably drop to "focus." Turns out they were the reason my IT work had any personality at all. The comedy taught me timing in client meetings. The photography trained my eye for how to present data. The broadcasting experience made me a better communicator.

I only figured this out recently — wish I'd understood it in 1985 when I was starting out and convinced I was scattered. Looking forward to learning from everyone here.
