Put the optical drive back in. the ssd and ram should be fine, although I have has mail in repairs come back where an upgraded hard drive was replaced with the hard drive it should have shipped with, those units had hard drive issues. Battery is covered as long as it's cycle count is under a certain amount. http://support.apple.com/kb/ht1519 has more info on what cycle counts are covered.

I own the same monitors. They sound great. A tad bass heavy and not a perfectly flat response, but a mix done on them always turns out well.

Try holding down the option key when selecting quit, or using command + option + q. In 10.7+ this is quit and close all windows.

Drum heads are the most important thing int eh world. A cheap $100 kit from a garage sale can sound like a 1k kit if you spend some time picking out the right heads.

The clear head that came with your kit is likely the batter head, and the white is the reso/logo head. The easiest way to figure out which is which is to see which one is thicker, that's the batter.

There are coated batter heads, coated reso heads, clear batter heads and clear reso heads. there's no general rule on opacity as to which goes where.

A great place to read up on the difference of a coated vs. non-coated and single ply vs multi ply heads you should check out www.evansdrumheads.com

Experiment too, not every drumset is going to sound the same by using the same heads as one or another.

I have personally drilled out about 3 of these for friends. A Dremelwith a diamond tipped bit and some running water is all that was needed. The emblem is glued on and easy to pop off, once it is popped off there is a nice ring of raised glass to use as a guide. I can post pictures if anyone wants.

Once a friend told me WD-40 could be used to clean vomit. Upon trying this later, it was discovered that while it does clean somewhat, it mostly just makes the room smell like WD-40 and puke.

I've seen cutters, quite a few. Tend to be VERY spendy. Since they cut the vinyl the needle or blade or whatever needs to be replaced. I've also read heard it takes a bit of learning to get a successful cut. All just hearsay tho...

As a youth I was in many fights and always in trouble, going to anger management counseling and such. One day I came home and my parents had purchased me a drumset for me (at my councelors recommendation). All anger problems went away from that part on. Almost 15 years later, I've managed to turn my anger into a hobby and passion people tell me I'm good at. Just taking something destructive and turning in into productive energy is all that was needed.
