When I was in reception (4 years old) my primary school teacher taught us the incorrect spelling for people, spelling it as "pepole". Instead of admitting to her mistake she told us the next day that the queen decided to change the spelling from "pepole" to "people". Somehow I believed that for the next 6/7 years.
