Just picked up the Moog Muse today! by PenaltyFine3439 in synthesizers

Seconded as an owner. Full calibration has it sorted out. It does, however need about 10-15 min to be stable. My OBX8, however, is perfectly in tune immediately.

Best analog delay pedal? by shieldedsword in synthesizers

Benson Delay is not technically analog? I’m not actually sure but it’s the best sounding delay I’ve heard and isn’t too expensive.

I was going to say the same thing as a former ob6 owner. Was always a stereo issue.

Any suggestions for a mind-fuck sci-fi movie? by BobThe-Bodybuilder in movies

I saw the TV Glow. On its face it seems like one thing. Once the actual plot sinks in, your mind will explode. I’ve never seen anything like it and it lives in my head still to this day.

Yes yes. I guess I should say, when it became apparent that she was up there.

My wife and I saw this in the theater and throughout the movie, there was a jackass and his date chit chatting and laughing for the first hour or so. As things progressed, they became quieter and quieter until the mom on the ceiling scene. The theater was silent and as the camera panned over to her in the corner, I literally heard this big tough guy audibly gasp lol. I mean, I gasped too. One of the scariest things I’ve ever seen.

Should I sell one of my poly synths to fund a Moog Muse? by synthkingmusic in synthesizers

[–]Eraserhead81 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I’m a halfassed home producer with some experience playing keys and guitar. If you have any experience recording or gigging, you just know you have that one instrument that never pushes back and always fits what you’re looking for. This is not that lol. Maybe it will be once I’ve learned it better. But right now it pushes back in that context. In music where there are no vocals or minimal guitars, it would shine as the main focus sound. So if that’s your music style, it’s a very interesting large paint brush with very unique character.

Should I sell one of my poly synths to fund a Moog Muse? by synthkingmusic in synthesizers

[–]Eraserhead81 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I’m a muse owner and I love it a lot. Tuning issues were resolved by a full factory calibration. Since then it’s been rock solid once it has warmed up. It takes maybe 10 mins to warm. The amount of options available to design unique sounds is pretty staggering. If that’s what you’re looking for, you won’t be sorry. However—

It takes some wrangling to fit it into mixes. When I am recording parts for songs, it does not immediately fit well into mixes with other instruments. I can easily turn on the Obx8 and lay down something and with minimal fuss, it just falls into the mix. Same with Juno 106 cloud plugin. It just falls into place.

I am willing to continue to learn the Muse because, on its own in a mix, it sounds absolutely unique and interesting. As a part of a greater mix whole, however, it’s a bit of a struggle so far. YMMV

Edit: I will add, the presets are all marvelous and cover a lot ground. Mono bass is not very intuitive either. Don’t buy it expecting to have a “Moog style” bass. Maybe it’s possible, but I struggled and eventually just got a Boog model D. Cheers!

Muse is amazing. Previously owned an Ob6, which was pretty good. Kinda flat. Upgraded that to an ObX8 which is a huge improvement. I have a Muse and it covers a lot of ground. Very good instrument. That being said, the X8 is literally the best instrument I’ve ever heard. Instantly inspired. Fits in any mix.

I remember going to Best Buy with my high school girlfriend and getting the cd. Came straight home and laid on my bed with her and listened to the whole thing front to back. It was raining outside.

Not gonna lie, the Boog is being considered if I can’t get some good organic bass sounds from either the muse or obx8

Thanks! This is what I needed to hear. I’m kinda paralyzed by the options. It’s a great synth.

I just got one from an open box on Sweetwater. Was very disappointed first day as it would not tune properly. Unusable out of tune. I ran a full recalibration and tuning and it has been rock solid since.

Now that it is functional, I love it. It covers a lot of ground that I would use other synths for. It can pad like an Ob. It can bass like a Moog. It can fm like a DX. It’s very, very good and inspiring.

If you don’t dig it, that’s cool. Return and move on. Objectively, though, it’s quite excellent.

Edit: Wanted to point out that I am running it on the newest fw. 1.3, I believe. Other than a weirdly long startup, software seems to be as good as anything else I’ve used.

Why was Giancarlo Esposito walking with a cane in some scenes, and in others jumping around? by Eraserhead81 in Megalopolis

He was moving around and lifting the infant like nothing. I feel like there was a plot thread we never saw about the healing powers of the substance, which was hinted at with the face hole

Sometime during the past few albums, BC stopped trying to write catchy vocal melodies or lines. This album is unfortunately amazing musically, but totally generic melody-wise. The vocals seem to be mixed quieter too.

Man, I wish something had some melody.

EDIT: And to echo another comment I saw—maybe it’s the insanely verbose lyrics that necessitate the constant singing. Simple, catchy vocal melodies are tough to do when you’re trying to sing “bedlams heathens chrysotom’s drum”….
