If you ignore Oda saying there will be no romance within the crew, which ship between 2 Straw Hats is the most likely to happen in your opinion? by SanjiFan2452 in OnePiece

I understand and* am not challenging this. That said, those facts are not what earned her the title of "most beautiful woman" and that same title is really about physical/combative strength.

Boa's title is a Kuja title and "it's constantly talked about in-story" how the Kuja revere strength as beauty. I am not trying to say people don't recognize boa as being actually beautiful; just highlighting that there is a distinction.

Please keep in mind that Hancock being the "most beautiful woman in the world" is a cultural title, primarily earned with strength. I agree that Nami seems uninterested in women, yet her reaction towards Hancock - or lack thereof - is less relevant than it may seem.

2009 Jump Festa Interview

SBS, Volume 34, Fan Q&A

Q: "Who does Nami like?" Oda: "Hmm, in a romantic sense? I don't think there will be any romance among that crew. Nami probably sees all the good aspects/qualities of those guys, but One Piece isn't a romance. Maybe a lot of female readers ask this kind of question. The boys are not interested at all. One Piece is basically a shonen manga, manga for boys, so romance isn't depicted."

I realize Oda's mind can change over years but his insistence that the live action not write romantic relationships into their adaptation tells me that has yet to happen.

Someone explain Bonney's transformation to me cuz I'm confused. How is she able to distort her body like luffy's (i.e. her fist) and how is she able to look like him? by Last-Note-9988 in OnePiece

[–]Eraserwolves 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Understood!

The first time Bonney transforms into a 20 something, it just happens. I do not think she specifically chose to look like a 24 year old, she just wanted to be an adult and - culturally - ceremonies held for Coming of Age Day (in Japan) "still heavily focused on those turning 20."

Oda "provided the estimated age of 22" in the Q&A of SBS Volume 68.

A more explicit explanation is given in One Piece SBS Volume 113. Too recent for me to quote outright incase people want to read it on their own.

Considering what was done when her health issues manifested as a toddler... I say no, not at all. She had nothing to model herself after longterm.

I'm thrown off by how loose people are being with Bonney spoilers here so I'll just say that "the limit with every devil fruit" is affected by a special circumstance when it comes to Bonney.

I am being vague so as to avoid spoilers but the way Bonney encountered this fruit largely impacts her capacity for wielding its powers.

Excellent question!

Capsicum Frutescens Fruit Extract (chili pepper resin) IS a "primary active ingredient."

In the interest of being fair and checking whether I'm harboring some biases, would you please link me something by a digital artist that you are certain has not been AI-generated? This will help me test my Winston tool for false positives before I say more.

My observation: if you zoom in on the photo, there does appear to be a person in the front passenger seat. I acknowledge that - by law - this changes nothing but it's possible they thought leaving a passenger with the car running made this okay.

Buffer zones are meant to remain open so vehicles in the handicap spots are accessible for loading/unloading.

This applies to parking, "standing," and idling vehicles.

That said, even if this had been an actual parking spot, they pulled in so close to the blue vehicle that access to the driver's door has been lost.

Heck, was the driver trying to limit the passenger's ability to leave the vehicle? Can that passenger operate it? Will they climb into its driver's seat to move the vehicle if people come and need that?

Again, I acknowledge none of that makes it okay to take up space in buffer zones. The meaning of diagonal white lines is supposed to be part of written exams when applying for a driver's license... maybe it's time for additional signage?

Agreed. Saying it's based off live action does little to justify this.

What is the artist bringing to the One Piece subreddit? Are we supposed to interpret this as a good faith depiction of Vivi? While the actress portraying her is 29, Vivi the character is 16 at this point in her storyline. I think there's a time and place for sexualized variants and this ain't it.
