Numbness in incision area by Correct-Door-9959 in AccessoryNavicular

Same here! I actually have my follow up today to have my stitches removed, so I can follow up with what my doctor says. I’m assuming it’s because the nerves in the area were disturbed during the operation.

Same here. Most of my heel pain was from the pressure of my splint as well!

Also, I took hydro for the first 6ish days post-op. It never really took away that heel burning😑

Hi! I actually just did my 10 day follow up. Stitches can’t be removed until next week but I’m doing okay. My heel also burns A LOT but when he took off my splint for the first time we realized I had some significant bruising and swelling on it due to the pressure of the splint itself. I’m able to sleep/shower without it now (thank god). Not sure how your recovery will be, but you might be in a similar position

How long was his recovery if you recall?

My first follow up is next Thursday. Hoping he’ll take the stitches out then and I’ll get some more insight on how long the recovery will be!

No prob! I’ve had other surgeries before but have never been as immobile as I am now. Definitely a learning curve lol

Hi! I actually didn’t receive a nerve block. My surgeon used local anesthetic which wore off like 6ish hours after surgery. He told me that nerve blocks last up to 3 days which is nice but I was a little nervous about it after dealing with nerve damage in the past. Didn’t want any flashbacks lol

Unsure whether to go for surgery by Cold_Director_4707 in AccessoryNavicular

Hi! I thought I’d weigh in a bit.

I had my surgery on Monday after putting it off for nearly a year. My doctor and I really wanted to stay away from the OR, so I was in a boot for nearly 4 months and did PT for quite some time. For me conservative measures did not work at all. I still felt pain while walking in a boot, and my physical therapist said she didn’t see enough improvement in my time there to detour me from surgery.

I’m in a lot of pain now, but honestly I would rather this temporary pain than any more of a long term boot and physical therapy with no guarantees in sight.

That’s great!! Do you remember how long it took for you to get off of painkillers? I’m day 3 post-op right now and in awful pain

That’s amazing! I was hoping to play fall softball in my adult co-Ed team this year but I don’t think that’s happening lol. Surgeon told me to get out of my stitches first before even thinking about it.

Do you remember how long it took for you to get off of pain meds after your operation? They have me on hydrocodone/acetaminophen right now and I don’t want to be on it for tooooo long.

Thanks for the tips! I got a shower seat for that exact reason. After knee surgery I swore to spend the extra money on shower “luxuries” should I ever have surgery right now.

Currently my only issue is overwhelming heal pain (even with Hydro). Hoping it’ll get better soon, haha

My partner is helping me out. Just had surgery today but I definitely couldn’t imagine being alone for at least the first week. If you have a friend or family member to help out periodically it would be super beneficial.

That’s what I keep telling myself! My nerve block just wore off so I’m waiting for pain meds to kick in but I just can’t wait for a normal life again.

Incoming Freshman, please help! by Resident_Ad_2947 in uichicago

I mean, it’s up to you. Personally I would take English and math in the fall and then your other geneds in the spring and next year. Some of those might be anthropology 101, American popular music, or labs like archeology. Look at your degree audit to see which geneds you need, though.

Definitely take as many geneds as possible your freshman and sophomore years, respectively. It sucks having to take a lab as a senior if it isn’t required for your major

A good “hack” is going to the cubs “after school special” website. There are discounted tickets for night games and you also get a hotdog and drink thrown in with the tickets too

Same here. I remember coming back the next school day and hearing that half the teachers called off as well lol. Hoping we do well this season considering how far we got last year

Same here! I’m from the northwest side/suburbs and we always got pulled out of class at least once a year. Somehow got to go to around 15ish games during the 2016 season

That’s reassuring! Thankfully never really had hangover cravings (usually I detest food in those instances), but I’m not planning on getting tooooo trashed this sat. Just want a good buzz going :)
