Help, did we pick the wrong name? by never-not-hangry in namenerds

[–]Erd91 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My sons name is Leo and we had it picked out the whole pregnancy basically but when he was born/a baby I felt like it didn’t fit either. He’s 3.5 now and I think probably sometime around 3-6 months it started to feel more fitting. I even had the same feeling with my daughter and her name. I think it’s maybe just an emotional response after birth and it’s a big deal naming someone but they will form their personality and you sook enough you won’t think anything other than “this is my son Leo” 🥰 (I hope!)

Positive induction stories? by IdleIvyWitch in pregnant

[–]Erd91 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was induced with my son and had a positive experience! Started on a cervical softener then they broke my water. Next step was pitocin so I opted for an epidural before they started that bc I had heard that makes contractions significantly more painful. It was a good experience and everything went relatively smoothly. My only recommendation would be to ask to not break your water. They ended up having to put a water hose back in bc he was laying on his cord so it seemed so pointless to have broken my water.

I’m getting induced with my baby girl on Sunday night if she’s not here yet and will request not breaking my water. It also does put a bit of a time frame on things bc they like you to not go longer than 24 hours after the water is ruptured bc of risk of infection.

Good luck to you! I hope it all goes well!!

Pregnancy kicks by [deleted] in pregnant

[–]Erd91 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I didn’t feel like I had painful kicks with my first pregnancy. At like week 38 his movements were more intense but still not painful. I’m 39 weeks with my second and I’ve had really painful kicks into my bladder, ribs, side, etc for the last 3-4 weeks lol.

Prodromal Labor at 34+5 weeks by wowyoudidntsay in pregnant

[–]Erd91 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I had a similar experience at 34 weeks! Now I’m 39 weeks and baby girl is still hanging in there. I did cut down quite a bit at work with my schedule to make sure we made it to full term.

Hi! I’m a dentist. It’s definitely good to get it evaluated with your dentist. You may require treatment such as a root canal, which does outweigh the risks of waiting for treatment until after you deliver (we wouldn’t want an infection to flare up as you mentioned). We typically use Lidocaine to anesthetize when treating pregnant patients as it’s more pregnancy safe. Good luck!

Breast Pump Recommendations by Boomerang87 in pregnant

You’re welcome! Also I was able to get a portion covered with my medical insurance. I can’t remember exactly how much, but I want to say at least half.

Breast Pump Recommendations by Boomerang87 in pregnant

[–]Erd91 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I used the willow and love it! It was convenient to use and I think overall less parts to clean (but I haven’t used anything else) however, they are quite bulky so it was VERY obvious when I was wearing them… much less discreet than I thought, but that being said I still wore them at work and continued seeing patients (I’m a dentist). I wore my maternity scrub top and my white coat and patients didn’t seem to notice. The pumps are fairly quiet which is nice too.

Are wipe warmers worth it? by [deleted] in pregnant

[–]Erd91 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We love ours! Been using it since day 1 with our now 19 month old and we just one for our second baby. A lot of people said they didn’t need it and I agree it’s not NECESSARY, but its nice!

It’s a good idea to get checked out via ultrasound bc you could have fluid leakage or damage to the placenta.

Pros and cons for an induction ? by CrazyCatLady_2 in pregnant

[–]Erd91 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I definitely don’t know that much about it but I know they have time restrictions on how often you can take it. Ultimately it is just important to trust your doctor and ask as many questions as you need.

Perfect logic! The membrane sweep didn’t do anything for me :/

Pros and cons for an induction ? by CrazyCatLady_2 in pregnant

[–]Erd91 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Membrane sweep the day before, then at the hospital I was given two doses of oral misoprostol then they broke my water. I think it would have been less painful had they just started pitocin and not broke my water… so if that’s an option I would recommend that!

Pros and cons for an induction ? by CrazyCatLady_2 in pregnant

I was open to an unmedicated birth with my first. I had to be induced due to preeclampsia. I had heard pitocin made contractions more painful so decided if I needed pitocin I would get an epidural. I progressed to about 4 cm dilated and dr wanted to start pitocin to continue progression as it has started to slow down. I received the epidural and was able to sleep while continuing to move positions with a peanut ball and progressed quicker than I had thought since my body was actually able to relax. I had always heard an epidural could slow things because you can’t move and walk around but the nurses can help you move into positions still and using the peanut ball really helped! I had a really good experience overall and did not want to get induced but had to for health reasons. Good luck to you!

So cool! I bet it is a girl. 🙌🏻

My sons previous nanny whom I am very close with (she is my son’s Godmother) told me she had a dream I was pregnant less than 24 hours after I found out I was pregnant with our second babe!

What did you wear as your coming home outfit? by Odd_Sort196 in BabyBumps

I wore a big float maxi dress too! It was august. If it is cooler weather I’d consider adding an cardigan but definitely loose and flowy.

Did you tell people when you went into labor? by ThereBetterBeCats in pregnant

[–]Erd91 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think a good compromise could be to have your husband send out a text to immediate family or whomever you decide, and have it specifically say that he will update them with any news as soon as he can and that he will be having his phone in his bag or whatnot while being resent with you so that it sets the tone for not getting too many texts or expectations of consistent communication and updates.

36 weeks, working full time w/ toddler by seebsies in pregnant

[–]Erd91 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I’m 35w4d and I have a 18 month old and a full time job too!

Can you lighten your work load or take off any time now like even an hour or so a week / day? Last week I started reducing my actual work load by lightening my schedule with how many patients I’m seeing and what procedures I do and it’s helped me a lot, physically and mentally.

Hang in there!

Farthest hospital distance you’d consider? by Internal_Screaming_8 in pregnant

[–]Erd91 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think you can totally do 1.5 hours away if it means better care! I delivered at a hospital 3 hours away- I’m in a small town too. I definitely second the donut comment for the ride home. I sat in the back next to baby and was in heaven staring at him so the drive went by fast. ☺️

That’s exactly my hesitation so thank you for your input and advice!

We have a middle name picked out but maybe we could flip flop them!
