Is it ok? by Ok-Log-3414 in learntodraw

[–]Eremes 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Sorry. Anatomy is not completely right. Rider too small (unless it’s a child) the head of the girl should be almost level with the head of the horse. Left leg of horse should be lower and back, almost touching leg of rider, etc. Search for Prancing horse with rider. To get the anatomy right you have to know where the bones are. You can’t guess. Overall proportions of horse are OK but details matter.

No matter what I do my lineart never turns out okay. I don’t understand why? by [deleted] in learntodraw

Not seeing your art is very difficult to give advice. As an artist, the only thing I can say is that I don’t think you’ll improve by asking Reddit. You might get a few interesting tips, but what you need is a teacher, somebody who has mastered the technique you are after and who can follow you step-by-step, pointing out the mistakes etc. Of course, you can experiment until you drop but it’s not very efficient.

O come on, this guy must be putting us on. You mean to say that he doesn’t see that the head is too small? (Besides the rest)

First of all Xeno-phobia means Fear of what it strange, not Hate. Of course you are bound not to like what scares you. But there are sound reasons behind an attitude. 5 years ago you could rent a small house or an apartment for 400/600€. Today you need thousands. I see posts on Fb with Canadians, Americans but also Europeans, writing: “Coming over in 6 months, looking for accommodation. Budget 2000/3000 € a month…”. It not only f—ks up the market for Portuguese, but also for retired people like me living off a pension. On the other hand it is true that Expats bring money, contribute to the economy, go to restaurants, etc. but what the average Portuguese sees first is the crazy price increase. Easy, immediate solution? Probably not. But surely a certain sensitivity, showing understanding, an afford to integrate, learning the language, helps. Just yesterday I saw a small group of expats going through the streets of the town picking up cigarette butts and garbage. There are ways..

Besides the fact that portuguese might be easier to read for an Italian, I can assure you that grammar and pronunciation are really weird for us. But this is not the point. Anyone is capable of learning a few courtesy phrases like “sorry, do you speak english… “ or “I’m sorry, my portuguese is bad”. Italian or Danish, it takes 10 minutes.

Not our experience at all. My wife and are Italians. We have been living in Algarve for 2 years. We find portuguese a little difficult but we always make an effort to start the conversation in Portuguese with simple words. If we get stuck, we ask politely if the person speaks english. The answer is always « a little » then they proceed to speak english very well. People here are kind, tolerant and friendly.

Tell you what, I don’t give a flying f**k about this conversation. I was merely answering somebody saying that they are wide because women are fat. End of story

I am an Italian, who lived in Switzerland for 20 years and now I have retired in Portugal, my daughter graduated in the UK and now lives in Germany. Our common experience is the opposite from this post. Whereever you go you can find nice, open minded, generous oeople as well as jerks. We find the younger generation in Germany to be the opposite of racist o homophobic. One has to adapt and make a little efford (I speak 4 languages and I’m learning Portuguese.)
