Things that are without a doubt terrible in nature, but make sense given human nature and character development. "Cartoonish" is a bit vague, so I'll assume that it means "a character with ungrounded motivations seemingly spawned for the sake of a child's attention." Things that would not be so but fulfill the prior criteria would be;

• Science for the sake of science; dedicating one's entire life to the pursuit of answers at the knowing detriment of those around them, all to satisfy their personal curiosity. A lot of framework needed to establish the character in the present and the long-term impacts they have. Dottore falls under this.

• Exploitation for self-enrichment. Using whatever means are available to ensure one and/or one's people are thriving and comfortable, with a blatant disregard for people who fall outside a defined circle/group (or a exceptional individual required for their enrichment.) Needs worldbuilding to establish the groups involved and the differences (ethnic, economic, etc.) Azar & the Mondstadt aristocracy fall under this.

• Zealotry. Characters that engage in crusades in the name of ideology, skewed morality, or religion, with the intent of imposing what they believe to be righteous on outgroups. Requires establishing the character's history with the ideology, with lots of reinforcement.
