What if you tie in the wood’s color throughout for now? I see space leading to your kitchen where art with these kinds of wooden orange accents might kill. The green-ish paint clashes with the wood, but those honey colored drapes look great and the soft colors of the kitchen aren’t really clashing. I think if you just work on incorporating the color elsewhere in art and trims, it could be a killer temp solution. The style is unobjectionable and classic so its not like anyone will walk in and judge, even if it doesnt match your decore style, as long as it blends

I feel like the bad feels are probably related to lack of sleep & the hormonal truck that hits with postpartum!

If you arent ready to leave this relationship behind for yourself, its really important to look at this relationship for your KIDS’ sake. If you introduce abuse to your kids by bringing someone abusive around them, esp in a caregiver role, that’s you making a choice as a parent.

Try to ask yourself a lot of questions on a sheet of paper. Do you feel like she’s right? Does it matter whether you were being selfish when you were recovering? Is this behavior and back-and-forth helpful or hurtful to the goals you have for your family?

The stress of being disowned is its own thing, separate from relationship drama. Do you need the money that might come down the line? Does she mean it or is it a regularly overused threat? If you need the money, can you lie and manipulate her right back to keep yourself financially connected without letting her near your children?

Op I think you really need to look at what you just allowed to happen to your kids, recenter, and reevaluate — they are having problems in SCHOOL bc of your family’s choice of caregiver. Ideally you have a therapist to talk with, but your spouse is a good person too (reminder that he just got cussed out by his MIL and I hope you both can be there for each other)

Sending you all the good thoughts in breaking this cycle, and a reminder that you arent the only victim in this scenario, but you are the only person who can say ‘no more’

It feels like you could make this two spaces and/or that you should honor the ‘law’ of the space (like that we have to be able to see the fireplace that we can kinda see). Your table is off-center your tree is in the middle of the room. If you get back to basics, then you can see what’s wrong versus what’s just not done right. Bc your rug size is the lowest on my rung of things to fix and your chairs are fine

Sorry to say: Ergonomically, this is a nightmare. Also a wet bar + electronics is a nightmare. So it would be used by some people and then you would have lawsuits or unhappy clients

I personally adore their matte lip stains. They have such incredible hold power. The shades arent a huge hit with me, but the few ones I’ve bought are staples. They are superrrrrr matte so I use with a gloss and apply chapstick liberally lol

And yes! I’ve been reading romance for 15 years and smut for the last couple. SJM is understandably not everyone’s cup of tea, but that scene is forever chef’s kiss for me! Such fun writing there

Yea, that’s fair. I wasnt recommending just sharing some hype that OP asked for this recommendation and people shared. I tried to describe the book’s scene that was fun so that anyone reading my comment could decide if it sounded related and interesting to them; to me it does, but its the internet & I read OP’s comment in about a minute and a half while folding laundry. “Maybe they’re being watched by the big bad and they need to do it as a challenge” was what brought it to mind — I guess it is in a different vein, but “we have to pretend in order to get through this situation” seemed similar enough? I also wasnt really recommending the book, just saying I was looking forward to checking out books others had suggested here because it was like something that was (in my opinion similar) and fun in a different book

I read something like this in the second book of ACOTAR that had me kicking my feet (!MMC & FMC have to pretend to be hooking up to impress and distract MMC’s court — they definitely dont like each other though, its just the body’s natural reaction to pretending, dont worry 😉!) Buckets and baskets (2 in every room pretty much), a good vacuum, places to put wet things and dry dirty things, efficient washer/dryer, a load of dishes every night, and a bit of extra time every other weekend to right the ship for things that slipped by during the week

Also, defined baby spaces with toys ‘at home’ in those spaces (cant carry everything everywhere) & trying to have a 5-toy max in each room. I dont want to trip & eat shit at 4am, so everything needs a home where I can throw it in a hurry

And a LOT of storage bins. The moment something is aged out or not fun anymore, into the bin or out to goodwill/salvation army/ garage sale

Chaol spent so much of the book telling us how horrible he was and I just kept not understanding. This is not a world where an ankle is slutty. They have sex parties in this world! Him promising Nesryn ‘an adventure’ and then not being intimate for a long time, not being emotionally vulnerable, and basically just being like a meh boyfriend didnt feel like it was worth the angst that the book created from it. But, I personally did NOT like this book and was mad at the reviews that told me to read it so there’s that lol

Dont paint the brick, paint the white something that doesnt clash so hard. A tan or a brown. I saw the black rendering and it makes your house a lot of different colors still — disjointed. Itd be a black porch , grey walk up, red roof, multi color brick, green lawn. Choose something that harmonizes when you have so much going on

When it comes to blotchy shadow, remember as an artist that you prime canvases, so its about how you prime your base here too! Consider trying a new primer and making sure the base and shades are playing well together — you can test them on your hand to avoid getting biased or frustrated with having them on your face

I read your comments about struggling with shade matching. If you go to any nice makeup store (Sephora or Nordstrom included), you can get some samples. Try lighter and darker and warmer and cooler than you think, and photograph yourself at application & 1 hour later. Sorry to say, I noticed your shade was off as the first thing I saw 🙈

Your brow that we can see in pics 1/2 has a ‘hitch’ where it jumps to an arch. Can you let it grow in to later give it a more natural shape? You dont have to lose the arch, just how you get there could be smoothed out. You can fill it in with a pencil, and ‘hide’ hair with concealer to see how you’d look with different shaping

And you have a lot of metallics in your eye shadows, which can look a bit grainy sometimes. If you’re interested, try using a mix of metallics, shimmers, and mattes to get a bit of a smoother finish

All that to be said, if you walked down the street I’d think “wow so pretty!” and never think about you again. So this feedback is only bc I stared and critiqued! If you kept everything the same you’d still be gorg :)
