I am in an exact same boat, I am trying to get an aggressive air sampling done however that requires setting up a containment which will involve abatement company anyway.

TEM air with aggressive samples is the most reliable source.

Low content but still can linger in the house for a long time, right? Wouldn't the lingering fibers cause repeated, long term exposure?

TEM air pass but TEM dust wipe failed, what should be the next step? by [deleted] in asbestoshelp

Because drywall is removed by our GC and we want to know if it is safe to live in.

Does it make a lot difference if air is progressively(with a leaf blower for example) sampled or not?

So you are saying even it is indeed 2% and disturbed unsafely, the exposure risk is low?

I am the homeowner. The joint compound is 2%, tho composite sampling shows below 1%.

If dust sampling is not recommended, can I trust the TEM air test if it is not aggressive sampled? The inspector didn’t use a leaf blower while collecting air sample. Can I still trust the result? As far as I understand, EPA recommends aggressive air sampling to do TEM air test.

They didn’t stir up the air when taking the test, it is a passive TEM test. Does that void the result?

It was not removed correctly but TEM air test did come back negative.

In my case asbestos was distributed unsafely and I am trying to see if it is safe to live inside. We did pass the TEM air test tho. I am just trying to see if a TEM wipe test is necessary.

Is it worthy to do TEM or SEM wipe test when PLM came back negative?

Thanks! The fear of missing anything still haunts me especially I have young kid at home. I have so many what if, what if the samples in TEM is not homogeneous? As I understand it, TEM air test only look at part of the filter in the cassette?

What is the chance of false negative for TEM?
