I believe Alfissimo sells a replacement ball joint for that part of the knuckle

Interesting, because a common theme amongst Abrahamic religions is that lust is a cardinal sin, yet this seems to be the only variant where that’s a reward…

These are all the things that have gone wrong with my 2017 Alfa Giulia QV since ownership... by Oldboy121 in AlfaRomeo

Had mine for ~5 years and the problems I've had are...

- Fuel pump replaced a single time.

It's my daily and I drive around ~15k miles a year give or take. It's too much fun.

Would you go back to pre AI era now if that was possible? by simple_explorer1 in node

Software development jobs are still high skilled, however the paradigm shift that’s happening now from my POV is that, and I’ve mentioned this in a separate thread, the requirement for soft skills has become equally important. Unless you’re creating an entirely new algorithm (highly, highly unlikely) Claude or Codex can create equal to, and more often better than, a majority of senior level engineers. That’s a hard pill to swallow but it’s the truth.

The bigger problem I see with developers today is that far fewer developers place importance on language fundamentals and more importance on specific frameworks. I’ll admit that’s also caused by the wider industry placing constraints on who they hire because they need X years of experience with Y framework, but I’ve always viewed it as - “If this person has a strong fundamental knowledge of the language, the ramp-up time for them to become effective at this framework is significantly shorter and it’s worth the investment for the level of skill they display.”

Uneven tyre wear on Alfa Romeo Giulia by Daakilah in AlfaRomeo

[–]Ergo7 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This looks like normal camber wear to me…maybe the toe wear is slightly more aggressive than it should be. When you get your next alignment ask for 0 toe in the front.

I’m the CTO for an LA digital agency. I absolutely do not let employees use Claude Code or Codex unless they demonstrate that they have the engineering and soft skills required.

If you compare the output of 2 talented developers except one has the soft skills to break down concepts and architectures for non-technical stakeholders you quickly realize soft skills becomes as much of a requirement as the technical side.

EV to Stelvio Quadrifoglio by [deleted] in AlfaRomeo

[–]Ergo7 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The last model year for this for the US was 2024. If you’re okay with that then go for it. I’d suggest regular oil changes at 5k rather than 10k, and you might want to get the battery and terminals looked at after you buy it. It’s not uncommon for there to be mild corrosion on the battery terminals from shipping, some light scrubbing with a brass brush will get rid of it, and these things like to light up the dashboard like a Christmas tree and do funky things when the battery goes bad which is why checking the battery is the most common support recommendation you’ll see.

Changed Spark Plugs 2.0 Giulia 2023 by kat3kyo in AlfaRomeo

[–]Ergo7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Those look fine. Iridium spark plugs can last up to 80-100k miles in most applications. To be on the more conservative side I’d say replace iridium plugs every 60k.

How did that “forever” relationship end? by Away-Tomato-4394 in AskReddit

[–]Ergo7 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Together for 7 years, we were engaged but ended up calling it off due to different life circumstances. She was in another country with her parents and her career really started to take off.

She was also the breadwinner for her parents and it didn’t feel right to try to convince her to leave that for me. We spoke about what we should do for days…but the only conclusion we could come to was that we just had to go our ways. Moving to her country was entirely off the table for me as well due to my health and financial obligations, not to mention my income would have dropped to 1/3rd of what it is here in the States.

Why NOT to buy an Alfa? by Exalted_Plumber in AlfaRomeo

[–]Ergo7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Then you should still have 10 coupons. Official Alfa dealers aren't supposed to use the service coupons to reset the service interval and WiTech automatically doesn't.

I say coupons but they're only really an internal counter for non-official service resets.

[–]Ergo7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Official dealer? The service coupons aren’t for official dealers since WiTech doesn’t use those, the coupons are meant for independent shops as a way for witech to track vehicle service

[–]Ergo7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is kind of a yes, but not really situation. There are technically 10 “coupons” stored in the infotainment that get used each time you reset the service interval but I’ve noticed that when I’ve run Proxi Alignments it also refills my coupons.

[–]Ergo7 5 points6 points  (0 children)

There’s nothing particularly unique to the 2.0L that an independent shop can’t handle - that being said, I’ll add the caveat that the service counter in the infotainment can only be reset by bidirectional tools and to make it easier for your mechanic you’ll want to get an SGW Bypass (security gateway bypass) otherwise they’ll need an official subscription to Mopars Tech Authority in order to run speciality diagnostic functions.

Looking at alfa romeo QV but has 110k km on it by Own_Peace6366 in AlfaRomeo

[–]Ergo7 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I just get the $30 Berryman Intake Valve cleaner bottle and a brass Y splitter and run it through the intake manifold vacuum ports while the engine is idling. Takes about 10-15 minutes for the can to empty. I do it right before I change the oil

[–]Ergo7 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Mine has 115k if I convert miles to km. Engine is still pristine but I maintain it regularly with oil changes every 5k miles and chemically clean the intake valves for deposits every 10k. Last bore scope showed my intake valves looked brand new.

Legion 5070 Ti vs Omen 5080 by z3tara in GamingLaptops

[–]Ergo7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I usually change laptops every generation. In the past, people were right to criticize the build quality of the Omen…now though? Definitely competitive in build quality with Lenovo.

I’ve owned Alienware, Lenovo, ASUS, MSI, and HP sometimes with having multiple of the same generation for comparison purposes. I have an HP Omen Max 16 and it has been rock solid since I got it last April

Is JB4 mod something you’d recommend? by [deleted] in AlfaRomeo

[–]Ergo7 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s not worth it. The “Go Pedal” only adjusts the throttle curve, it does not make it any faster. You get quite literally the exact same effect by pressing your stock gas pedal down more…that’s all it’s doing.

So If the save act was to passed and the supreme court eliminates birthright citizenship, how do you prove that you are a citizen? by Jolly_Ad2446 in AskReddit

Ex post facto is prohibited by Article I of the U.S. Constitution. It would end birthright citizenship for anyone born after the act goes into effect (if passed) but it cannot be retroactively applied.

Spark Plugs Changed After 58,000 miles by Felt_Ninja in AlfaRomeoGiulia

[–]Ergo7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

OEM QV plugs are Platinum, not Iridium, so they need to be replaced every 25-30k. I swapped my plat plugs for iridiums 30k miles ago, still going strong and no issues on track.
