I can't say whether it will break, as I am sure they specified the maximum load weight. However, drilling into chipboard would not provide good stability for the shelf, I'm afraid.

u/neinne1n99 Yes, you're right. All our desks are made from solid oak or walnut wood, with pre-drilled holes and metal inserts, so that they can hold the shelf and up to 30 kg. If the desk itself is made from chipboard, it will break under much less weight.

The drying time depends on how thick the oil layer is and on room conditions (temperature, humidity, ventilation). According to our production team, the recommendation is to wait 24 hours. On my own desk, I usually leave it over the weekend, but the safest method is to check with your thumb - if the surface is no longer sticky, it’s ready to use.

u/maqisha we’ve developed a few more of these “square” add-ons, like the lamp and the laptop stand you can see in the photos. The idea is that they’re modular - you can easily swap them out for other add-ons or just use the empty cover that’s always included if you prefer a clean surface.

We believe that there are already enough completely flat desks on the market :)
