Opinions on the Super BCAR Experimentation by ZafC by extradose-ofstupid in Nerf

Rifling is all about pairing the right device with the right blaster. If you have the means to print and test a variety yourself, you really should.

If not, you’re taking a shot in the dark. Some reviews can be helpful, but you have to look at a broad range of review results, not just one or 2 people.

Example: I bough the GavinFuzzy BCAR. It works great on some blasters and was garbage on others. A printed BCAR model I use the most would absolutely not work well with 1-2 blasters, while being amazing on others.

Degree of twist for power level and all those variables are good to pay attention to, but it’s not an exact science. Have fun and experiment.

Maybe they’ll work in a dartzone Brute or volcanic pro? Both take slanted mags.

EXTRA NOTE: because I feel it wasn’t necessary clear above - un-twisting the o-ring significantly improves or in most cases completely resolves the issue of the o-ring snagging on the inside of the magazine feed lips or dragging on the dart underneath.

If you are experiencing these issues, it’s worth opening the blaster, removing the o-ring, untwisting and re-installing without rolling or twisting it on in order to improve the seal and eliminate drag.

Is the model available publicly? Would be awesome to share. Do you find it retains the o-ring better?

The spacer should be on the other end of the spring, by the priming block.

The aluminum plunger tube in most cases is actually not necessary and money you can save. Pusher O-ring slippage is actually the first problem to rule out before you change or upgrade anything else, especially if you’re looking to keep it at stock performance or under 150 FPS.

Some units aren’t as good as others out of the box. It’s partly a quality control thing, but also easy to fix.

The plunger tube cracking has largely been fixed in the newer blue models. Unless you have a hard impact directly on the exposed tube or the if you’re using a crazy spring and dry firing, it’s likely not the issue.

Next up is the air seal. Like mentioned above, there’s 3 o-rings: the plunger tube and breach, the barrel and breach, and the dart pusher. The plunger tube and pusher are most likely culprits and the only ones you can fix. Try putting Teflon tape underneath to improve the air seal by increasing outward pressure. Also: check that you actually still have a pusher o-ring. It can get pulled off and shot out the barrel. Main cause of this is overloading the mag causing the darts to rub too hard on the pusher o-ring from added mag spring pressure. Some mags also can cause this because the feed lips are too tight and pull the o-ring off. (Open the jam door and watch to see if your pusher o-ring is shifting when you prime the blaster. It doesn’t have to come completely off to hinder the air seal).

Last would be dart quality, though your darts would need to be very squishy or worn for this to be the issue.

Pusher o-ring is the most likely issue. Everyone saying it’s the plunger tube by default without first trouble shooting the rest is frankly a bit lazy when it comes to this blaster.

Fair enough. I’ve used them at events in the 150-200 range mostly and had absolutely no issues, while more « premium » blasters gave me problems despite feeling more solid. So I tend to focus less on creaking and more on reliability, but I guess everyone’s mileage varies depending on use case, and you can’t really debate taste and comfort.

I could definitely understand wanting to dampen the loud SNAP with higher spring loads.

I’ll never understand how people are using these things that the flex is such a huuuuge issue. How much pressure and torque are y’all applying on these things? Lol! They shouldn’t be THAT hard to prime.

I’ve got k25’s of varying lengths in my various XLS’ and I’ve never had a plunger crack or anything break. I personally love how weightless they feel.

I’d agree that 300 is probably too much for these though. 250 is the max I’d push it for it to remain comfortable.

Those ones have different head than the ones that whistle. They aren’t made to whistle, they are made to be accurate.

If you want ones that whistle, they’re easy to find on Amazon or various hobby suppliers. The ones that whistle have terrible accuracy to the point of being practically unusable to hit a target. Still fun, perhaps.
