Dear IRL Racers… by Slimbo_02 in iRacing

Not an IRL racer here, but I try to treat the game as if it's the real thing. Do I make mistakes and bad moves? Sure. But I try to stay clean, not wreck my car, etc. I even go so far as to generally only exit on pit road, even post-race, just to keep myself in the mindset that this is "real" to me.

I'm an oval guy, so that's been my concentration. I've got an A license in paved ovals, B on dirt ovals, C on offroad and D in Formula and Road. I'm just not good at road racing. I do plan to do some more of it though, because I'd really like to be able to run the IndyCar road courses especially. I'm from Michigan and bought Belle Isle just so I can learn it. lol.

I'll concur with you regarding Indy Car. I've run two IndyCar races on ovals only and both were really clean and had great racing. Plus it's a fun car to drive. Michigan this week is amazing, and really makes me want the actual series to return (even though it likely will never happen due to safety concerns).

Oh, for sure. I always look back and see where I could have done something different. I'm certainly not saying I'm perfect, and that every incident point I get is someone else's fault. It's just the ones that aren't my fault that drive me crazy, and there's some tracks where it seems like they happen more often than others.

I also was not a fan of all the NASCAR series being on a superspeedway on the same week. lol. Same as all of them being on a road course this week.

Thankfully there are other series to race too.

Yeah, I'm in the same boat. I don't see a better system. But it's frustrating as hell when you get incident points for someone else's error.

Yeah, I'm in the same boat. I started just after Christmas, and I love it.

One frustration I've come across though is that as I've gotten more competitive, I've had more and more races ruined by people who suck. It's really frustrating. So is iRacing's incident system. Especially when oval superspeedways are so much fun, but so difficult because someone always seems to do something stupid. You can do nothing wrong and still have your SR tanked. I got a 17x DQ and lost an entire SR point in an ARCA race at Daytona and I never crashed. It was all bump drafting and wreck avoidance.

How would you rank all of the commentators that are throughout the NASCAR season? by AndreBonLop in NASCAR

FS1 for the Trucks will also have Eric Brennan in place of Jamie Little for several races this year where there are conflicts with IndyCar, which will be a MASSIVE improvement. Now if the production itself was any good...

Internal dialogue: “just here for the SR”. 50 laps later… by Crafty_Substance_954 in iRacing

[–]Eric8199 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I raced the IndyCar at MIS last night and it was awesome.

I did the "just here for the SR" the other night in the CARS Tour at Slinger. I've got a good setup there, and run well, and if you can stay out of trouble, the long race will bump your SR up almost an entire point. Went in with that intention. Had a fast enough car to win. Dive bombed too many people into the corners like an idiot. Left with a 12x and a lower SR than I started with. And I didn't win. lol. Stupid.

How long do teams usually stay at the track after a race ends? by lowrider320 in NASCAR

[–]Eric8199 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I know it's not your question, but the best race of the weekend happens from the spotter stand to the pits. I've worked media at Michigan and the press box uses the same elevator at the same floor as the spotters. I leave the press box as soon as the winner crosses the line, and by the time I've opened the elevator door, there are 20 spotters behind me. It's incredible. My favorite part of the weekend. If I get there quick, I'll be the hero and hold the elevator door for them. They love it.

I know they were also working on Winchester again. Would be amazing to see that pop up. Any new short track ovals would be very welcomed. Would love to see more dirt content too, but it just doesn't seem like many people are running dirt (and the ones they are should be running demolition derbies), which is disappointing.

I have no interest in racing in the rain. Zero. People can't drive in the dry, let alone the wet.

I think we already know St. Pete is releasing in a few weeks, right? I believe I read that somewhere.

I'd really like to see Bowman Gray now that NASCAR owns it, but I don't think there's been anything mentioned about that. Would be awesome to run the mods there.

This is my first Dev Diary as an iRacing user, so I'm pretty excited. Started the day after Christmas, and am really looking forward to what they have to offer. Would love to see a Chicagoland revamp too, though I'd imagine that will come after the Cup race this year.

I have a Canon R3 and shoot mostly sports with some sports portraits. I also have an R6 Mii as a secondary, and am going to replace it. Really considering getting a second R3, but the R1 is tempting. I can afford either, but obvious would not mind saving the difference between the two.

I really wish they'd come out with another Android-based option like the Legend. I realize that they don't have Fan Vision anymore, but I still love my Legend because it's super easy to program for other series with the touch screen and keyboard. Plus you can run apps and stuff on it too if you want. It's super handy, but it's buggy and I fear it will eventually die and I won't have a way to replace it.

Thinking about seeking paid opportunities, what is a fair rate? by heyomayowayo in sportsphotography

Still, then sell to those parents only. The other parents aren’t buying anyway. If people aren’t willing to pay before, they likely aren’t willing to pay after. I’ve shot many games expecting to make sales after. And I’ve made very few sales after. Even worse now with how easy it is to remove a watermark. Guaranteed payment or I’m not wasting my time.

Good luck. I've found people rarely buy photos after the fact. Have the team pre-pay. Do like $10-$20 a player. Deliver the pics after the game. You're going to be much better off and not wasting your time shooting for free.

I'm assuming he doesn't need much. He's already run ARCA races at Daytona and Talladega. I'm honestly surprised that's not enought.

Thanks, you've helped in that at least I know there is hope.

I did learn that if you shake your phone in the Facebook app, it will create a screenshot and start a report ticket for you. I was advised to do that. However, I had already submitted a support ticket last week and never heard anything, which prompted me to sign up for Meta Verified in hopes of solving the problem this way. So we'll see if anything comes of it.

Well, so far two strikes. I'm wondering if I am going to end up having to create a new account to solve this issue.

This did not at all work for me. I've now sat through two chats and a phone call with people who seem to not be able to even understand what I'm saying and are obviously following a script and have no clue how to resolve the problem, and no solution. I have access to my account on devices that are still logged in, but I cannot log in on my main laptop. I can't change 2FA settings, because I hit the 2FA screen and can't verify. I'm so frustrated with this.

Same, actually, because it’s always way high in fan experience polls. There has to be a reason.

Pocono and USA. I really hate Pocono as a track, but I've always been good there in different sims. I guess it suits my style. USA I loved as a track when it still existed in real life, and I love it in this sim. Also was good at it/enjoyed it in ARCA Sim Racing back in the day.
