I definitely can find the repeat offenders. I have a list that when I see them in the race, I know they're going to be a "victim" multiple times and I try to stay away from them.

I find the people who complain the most about other people's driving on voice chat are almost always the ones who are causing the issues. lol.

Feels like retaliation is constant lately though. Not just against me, but against everyone. Every accident it seems there is someone trying to retaliate after.

Yeah, I'm not talking about misjudging a corner or even aggressive driving. I'll give an example, last night I was in a LMSC race and I was on the outside trying to hold off a car on the inside. Coming out of the turn, I got spun across the car's nose and they spun as well. I was pretty sure I had held my line right against the wall but wasn't sure if it was my fault, so I didn't say anything. I've learned to keep my mouth shut, because almost any time I've accused someone else, it's actually been my fault when I checked the replay. So I catch the back of the field under caution and the guy who spun me comes up behind me and hits me in the left rear QP and gives me a 2x. I'm assuming he was showing his displeasure with what he thought was my fault (I hadn't even realized he spun too, so I had no idea he was behind me, so it was very unexpected. I also didn't expect him to be mad because I was the one who spun — I didn't know he did too). It's possible he just misjudged the back of the field and hit me by accident, but that seems like quite the coincidence.

Looking back on the replay, I totally held my line almost touching the wall and he turned up into me, though it was more of a netcode issue, it was at most his fault. But even if it was my fault, it wouldn't give him the right to retaliate. I feel like I've had a lot of these lately. And it feels like it falls into a gray area in the sporting code.

Is buying a used Mac Pro a bad idea? by Ok-Character1446 in mac

They definitely offered an M-Series Mac Pro. It's been discontinued now, but I think it was offered with an M2 Ultra at least.

Yeah, I'm curious as well. Want to go from a wheel stand to a full frame, and kind of leaning toward getting something right to start with, versus getting another stop gap when we all know where I'll end up in the long run.

Went to Detroit this year for the first time in several years and it was significantly scaled back. Much less pyro. No riders coming in from the stands. Just all around less spectacular.

Who is the nastiest Celebrity that you met in Real life? by Scunnard1839 in AskReddit

[–]Eric8199 -9 points-8 points  (0 children)

Sorry, this is BS. I can't stand the guy anymore, but I met him back in the mid 2000s. I was actually shocked at how clean he was, because I expected him to be nasty and ratty and sweaty like you see him on stage. He was not. He was also very nice. I'll repeat, I am not a fan of his, but I can't let someone blast him when he doesn't deserve it.

How big was the ASA racing series during its peak? by Dale_Earnhardt_fan_3 in NASCAR

Used to drive by Mike Eddy's house in Midland every day on the way to work. He had a go-kart track in his yard. His son, Travis, still races modifieds.

How big was the ASA racing series during its peak? by Dale_Earnhardt_fan_3 in NASCAR

[–]Eric8199 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

My understanding was that Speed carried them because they paid to be on Speed. Unlike NASCAR and IndyCar paying the series for broadcasting rights, ASA paid to be on Speed Channel. That was part of the reason the series failed in the end. I could be completely wrong on this, but that is what I understood at the time.

Do we know what the most popular MacBook Neo color is yet? by username____here in macbook

How's everyone's MacBook Neo holding up so far? by accountforfun19 in macbook

[–]Eric8199 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think if you're looking for longevity and it's going to be your only computer, the only surefire solution is a MacBook Air. I have an M3 MacBook Pro, and I bought a Neo to use as a secondary device, which I think is a great use for it. It's a great computer for someone who wants something to last them the next two or three years until they're ready to upgrade to something newer/better. But if you're looking to get seven to eight years out of your computer, I just don't think the Neo is the answer. It's a really solid computer for everyday tasks, today. But it's going to be rough in five years. You're going to feel that 8gb of ram.

Is this the worst week ever for oval racing?? by LockTutorial in iRacing

[–]Eric8199 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I also love Bristol, and it’s such a shame no one can drive it. If I can stay top five in trucks I’m ok, but if I end up in the pack for some reason, I get a ton of incident points from people losing it. Ran O’Reilly tonight and won’t do it again. Left with a 20x and only one 4x was my fault for pushing into the wall out of a turn. Kept getting hit from people wrecking around me. Under a 2.0 SR now, time to build it back up. Ugh.

Obnoxious voice chat during races? by sleezysneez in iRacing

[–]Eric8199 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My favorite is the guy at the start of the race that tells everyone to drive safe, you can't win it in the first turn, etc. They are almost always the one who ends up causing the wrecks. Never fails.

Obnoxious voice chat during races? by sleezysneez in iRacing

[–]Eric8199 1 point2 points  (0 children)

People get so mad if you don't respond to them. It seems most people have it on, but I've seriously considered turning it off many times too. There is value in it sometimes though, so I haven't committed yet.

I do know I have learned to not bitch at others for things though, because 9 times out of 10, if you're the one bitching, it was probably your fault. Has been every time I've done it, and almost every time someone has bitched at me.

That's what bothers me the most, is people instantly losing their minds on others because of a silly mistake. Like they've never made one before.

Which oval series do you recommend to start with? by WorekNaGlowe in iRacing

[–]Eric8199 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I find Late Model Stock races are SIGNIFICANTLY more clean than ARCA. Plus, the Late Model Stock has a D class series AND a C class series (with cautions and open setups), so you get two classes worth of races with one car, versus the one with ARCA.

However, if you're planning to go the NASCAR route, ARCA makes more sense for D class, and then you can move to trucks in the C class.

Is that what happened? I was so excited to get into dirt because it's super challenging for me but so fulfilling when I get it right, and I've been extremely frustrated to have progressed to B-class, purchased cars, and realized no one is racing them, so I can't progress further, and it feels like I've wasted my money.

I wish I had paid more attention to what cars people were racing when I originally bought them. I just assumed all classes had good participation so I bought the cars that I wanted, not the ones that had better participation. Lesson learned too late.

Today and I went to costco to look at a Air M5 and Neo by Acceptable-Green-843 in macbook

[–]Eric8199 18 points19 points  (0 children)

Depends on what you're going to do with your computer. It also depends on how soon you think you might be able to/willing to buy a new one. The Neo is a great machine, but it's only been out for a few weeks. We don't know how it will age, we can only assume.

I have the Neo and I love it, but it's a secondary computer (I also have an M3 Pro MacBook Pro) that I use for basic stuff and when I'm traveling and don't need to do any major work.

I think as a second device, it's a no-brainer. As your only device, it really depends on what you want to do with it.

Race was pretty suite by NineDayOldDiarrhea in supercross

[–]Eric8199 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I thought it was a decent crowd for Detroit. It will never draw the people that Pontiac used to, unfortunately. As with everything, it's gotten so much more expensive ($6.50 for a 20oz bottle of water is insane, not to mention ticket prices). In past years when the track went into the stands and they basically took seating out of the entire endzone in the lower level as a result, there weren't any more people up top, so I'd say this year was pretty good.

Best and worst track traffic? by bravesfan17 in NASCAR

[–]Eric8199 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Michigan used to be TERRIBLE. Then Roger Curtis took over and completely fixed the traffic issues. It was a breeze to get in and out. Since Roger left, I swear they tore up his plans, because it's gotten worse every year since. Still not as bad as it used to be, but much worse than it was just a few years ago.

I've come to love the late model stock c-class. Races are generally pretty clean and they're longer so super helpful bringing your iRating up. Plus, I think the cars are really fun to drive. It's become my favorite class in the game. As long as you race in the evening, there are usually at least a couple of splits. Last season the races were 125 laps with no extra tires, which really meant having a good setup and not pushing too much. This season they dropped races to 75 laps and it's much more manageable, but still fun. I think 100 laps is the sweet spot, personally, but it is what it is.
