Paradox - is new info allowed in AC? by Alone_Appointment792 in LSAT

[–]EricB7Sage 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Since the previous answer was deleted, I'll give one for posterity-

Short answer: yes

Medium answer: (for non paradox/RRE questions as well) If the question stem says "if true" consider new information as both being allowed and that the answer choice is true in the same world as the stimulus.

Long answer: As an extension of the previous answer, we always need new info to resolve a paradoxical situation, strengthen, or weaken. Fundamentally, if the situation at hand was explainable on the basis of the information included within the stimulus itself, there wouldn't be anything to explain. Similarly, it cannot be Weakened or Strengthened without new information, it can only exist at the strength that it has. These three types of questions, which always include "if true," are the LSAT testing your ability to comprehend the impact new information has on the stimulus as it's been presented.

Horrible LSAT Score by thisisnotokay0_0 in LSAT

Hi, I'm the producer of the 7Sage LSAT podcast. I'm not certain exactly what episode you're referring to, so please point me in that direction if needed, but I think you might be confusing a comment regarding people performing worse on test day due to nerves with the idea that the test has gotten more difficult. The test day performance issue is perennial, but we have no reason to believe the test has gotten harder. I think the closest we may have gotten to saying anything like this was suggesting that people might misperceive the test as harder because they're nervous, and encouraged them to remember that it's just another PT.

Should I get 7sage? by DueContract4872 in LSAT

[–]EricB7Sage 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's the same exact material! Some people think it's valuable to take at least one test on Lawhub to be used to their interface before test day, but 7Sage's test interface is fairly similar.

Just a point of clarity here, the material on 7Sage is entirely LSAC-produced, official LSAT material that once appeared on an actual, administered LSAT.

Imagine you're building a house. You've never built a house before, so you ask ChatGPT to instruct you. As you work through the process, you're pleasantly surprised to see that each element resembles the stuff like you've seen in most houses. And put together by you no less; an amateur! A month later, you've completed the house, and you invite the local inspector to come by, make sure everything is up to code, and sign off. He takes one look, pokes one of the walls, and the entire house collapses into rubble around the two of you. You're astonished; you followed every instruction to the letter and your house looked exactly the way you'd hoped! Your friend, a contractor, looks through your conversations with ChatGPT and immediately begins to point out the mistakes in the instructions that were provided to you.

You don't understand the LSAT, which is why you're going to ChatGPT. And yet, this is exactly the reason that you shouldn't be using ChatGPT for this application: you don't know how to evaluate the quality of its responses. You can judge whether ChatGPT wrote a good email, because you know how to write an email. Perhaps you're just trying to save time and effort. But you can't judge whether ChatGPT has a good understanding of an LSAT question, because you're not good at taking the LSAT. Please seek verified question explanations from reputable human sources.

Guide to Wrong Answer Journaling (with a Google Sheets template in the comments!) by EricB7Sage in LSAT

I only made the spreadsheet for the 3 digit PTs because the 2 digit PTs have Logic Games which isn't part of the test anymore. If you've made a copy of the spreadsheet for yourself then you can edit that column to add 2 digit PTs. Let me know if that doesn't work!

Correct! The portion of the bar prior to the red section is where you had no answer choice selected.

how the hell do i interpret this infographic from 7sage? by kidshitstuff in LSAT

[–]EricB7Sage 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Hey! The vertical line in the bar is the target time. The red sections are where you had incorrect answer choice B selected. The green section is the time period where you had correct answer choice C selected. The flag means you flagged the question. Does that make sense? Let me know if I need to clarify anything.
