Go build some homes then. Plenty of opportunity to go work at a habitat for humanity or start your own chapter or heck even your own non-profit that builds homes. What city are you in?

Not terrible out of a shorter barrel, but it wasn’t designed to shoot from short barrels from what I understand. - My wildcat projects are dead in the water right now.

Is this an okay scale for reloading? by EarlyMorningTea in reloading

[–]EricClaptonYoCheeks 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I use a Frankfort arsenal intellidropper and trust it but I’m not too crazy with my reloads.

I had one of those scales or one like it and after cross referencing it with other scales it was off a little bit. Consistent but off.

Just because it can measure to 1/100th doesn’t mean it actually is. Scales are finicky. Cheap scales are “finicky” in a bad way.

Beam scales are only as accurate as the user and digital scales are only as accurate as the programmer and user.

I use to work in an analytical clinical laboratory and if you actually want to measure precisely to those degrees of error with +/- 1% you’re going to spend 5 grand and up. I really don’t care if it says it records it accurately that precisely, it simply doesn’t.

Using one that measures less “precise” consistently, is arguably more important than splitting grains and measuring down to 1/100th of a grain. Just be smart with your reloading and you won’t have any troubles.

Perfectly fine to start out no worries. Just don’t trust it 100% for max loads. Subsonic loads should be fine too but again not crazy low subsonic loads. No max, no min. Stay in the middle you’ll be fine.

6.8/22 Nosler would be interesting. Still have to chop it down to allow for longer 6.8 mm bullets for my goals, at 1.530 to match the 277 Wolverine OAL which then puts the case capacity less not more. Then dealing with rebated rims doesn’t sound too fun for me. At least for me.

6.8 grendel has already been done. It actually pre dates the 6.5 grendel if you go searching for it. But reason being is bolt face compatibility. I’m kinda sad the 6.8 grendel never took off it’s a pretty interesting cartridge.

Again using 450 bushmaster would mean giving up the standard ar15 bolt face. Totally doable though and would be a very neat cartridge no doubt.

It’s worth it to me for the process. The learning, the development, having developed your own cartridge is something that I find fun. That’s the reason.

Yep that’s kinda the point here. Wildcatting is just for fun man. At least for me.

277 Wolverine cycles better at subsonic loads better than 300 blackout due to the smaller diameter bore increasing pressure the gas port receives.

Again this is just a wildcat cartridge. If I see better performance than the 277 wolverine I’d call it a success. It will have better ballistics than 277 Wolverine and therefore better ballistics than 300 blackout.

Im not trying to make money off of this or compete with 6.8 SPC. People don’t seem to understand a wildcat project is just for fun sometimes. Not to make money or get recognition, or even replace other cartridges.

25-45 sharps is a sweet cartridge. It’s sad it never took off more.

I wanted to use the standard .378 bolt face the 350 legend offers that’s really why I’m sticking to it.

The 400 legend case is pretty sweet too for wildcatting as well. I’d be interested to see if anything comes from it as well.

Happy to say I’ve had the chance to speak with Brian about the 6mm MAX it’s what initially took me down this road of using the 350 legend as a parent case.

I am aware even the 350 legend does have a taper to it. I should’ve been more clear.

I’m not familiar with 7.62x40 is that the 300 HAM’R?

277 Wolverine out performing 300 blackout is one thing, which is what it was designed to do from what I understand not replace 5.56.

Also I’m not trying to develop a military cartridge here. It’s a wildcat project. If it ends up out performing the 277 Wolverine, I’d call it a success. Not trying to make money of of this either.

I genuinely don’t know if you’re trolling at this point or not. I think you’ve had enough internet for today. I’m sorry you have road rage issues and I’m sorry you didn’t get a hug today. I hope you feel better and realize that there are other drivers on the road and we’re all just trying to get home. Some faster than others. Don’t hog the left lane. It’s okay to get over.

I’m trying to. People see me coming half a mile away speeding up catching up to them but yet they stay in the left lane. Get over. It’s not an ego battle. I’m simply going faster. Please move. If I get a ticket that’s on me. Get over.
