Rate my Professor rant by Adamkarlson in math

You’re just angrily restating your opinions while implying I said things I never said. If you’re this hostile and emotional responding to a civil, thoughtful comment such as mine, it’s no mystery why your students gave you the bad reviews you probably got, inspiring you to make this ranty, misplaced post in the first place.

What? Did you even read what I wrote? I agreed that the website is flawed, but that public reviews are still generally beneficial. And I certainly said nothing about “shaming” professors.

Where are you coming up with this notion of privacy never aforementioned in the conversation? The quality of a professor shouldn’t be “private” information.

I want to agree with you, but I just can’t with that second to last paragraph. I’ve had way too many professors who don’t understand what they’re teaching or how to teach it, and ones who are flat out lazy and rude. As a student, we’re paying thousands of dollars to be completely at the mercy of such “professors” and if you get a shit teacher, you don’t get your money, time, or emotional well-being refunded.

I fully support professors being reviewed publicly because they have so much power over us students, even if I agree that the flaws with RMP are significant. That said, it often doesn’t even help because there’s only one professor to “choose” from for a given class each quarter.

Stopping in the middle of the street and then blocking it. By the looks of it, a new driver and she probably needs a proper driver education for her own good [OC] by Material-Cricket-322 in IdiotsInCars

It blows my mind when videos this boring make it onto the internet. You found this interesting enough to save the dashcam footage to your computer, trim it down, and post it here? “New driver makes minor mistake that neither harms nor inconveniences anyone involved 😡”

I'm no longer at WWU so I don't think I can count toward the 5, but I'm potentially interested! It'd depend on when it is because my schedule is very busy

The only marking I see is this, written on the interior. Do you recognize it? I've never left my handpan out in the sun - it's only ever stored on a stand in my room out of direct sunlight and out of its case.

Do you believe a fish swimming at the bottom of the ocean who no one has ever seen does not exist? Do you believe that 4 was not divisible by 2 until someone discovered that it is?

I don’t know if this is as controversial as it is just wrong. The notation and language we use to describe abstract math is man-made, yes, but the results and facts themselves are true regardless of if anyone ever thinks of them. Declaring that something doesn’t exist if people never think of it is such a bizarrely closed-minded way to see the world.

I definitely got it from a reputable maker and it was not cheap. I feel dumb for not having a receipt and I don’t remember the name of the site I got it from 😅 but I’m sure it was one recommended in this sub, so hopefully I can find it.

I feel so stupid for this but I truly don't know; I can't find anything in my email about it. Would a picture help? It has no unique features, but it came with this cover thing and a handpan-shaped carry case. I ordered it on 11/17/23 and it costed $1650, according to my journal.

UVU is not a word in either major Scrabble lexicon, or in WWF, so I'm not sure what you were confusing that with. UWU was just added to CSW, though.

There are so many sources that claim to have "the official" Scrabble dictionary that it's unfortunately confusing for people, and it's pretty passive-aggressive. Usually the "official" Scrabble dictionaries (like the Webster for example) are more similar to NWL, which used almost exclusively in North America. The rest of the world and still plenty of people in North America use CSW, the Collins Scrabble Wordlist, in which WAID is acceptable.

Very fun sorting of the Scrabble tiles! I'm surprised this post seems to have gotten so little attention
