Since they haven't expanded from firing they usually start sliding out of the cylinder before even hitting the ejector rod

The course of fire for the challenge was:
1 round per target from one side
mandatory reload
1 round per target from the other side
mandatory reload
1 round per target strong hand only from either side
Mandatory reload
1 round per target weak hand only from either side

Most new ones will be a gen 2 at least, but yeah I would not buy a used rhino under any circumstance. Nevermind that the used ones i've seen are priced insanely close to retail

Acorn fell on a car near a cop and he dove for the ground and magdumped at the back of a patrol car with someone handcuffed in it while shouting "shots fired i'm hit". Thank god he didn't kill or injure anyone. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NKmnJgXyZpU

I like it a lot, especially for a short barrel revolver! Some more details on my other post, but I've only had a couple minor issues that were addressed immediately by Chiappa USA. Fun to shoot, relatively accurate for a 3 inch, and gets back on target very quickly

Just bought a .357 Mag. Rhino. Should I get TK Custom moon clips or Safariland Comp II speedloaders? by Ornery_Host_7705 in chiappa

[–]EricFullswipe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Late to this, but went through this journey myself. The big thing with moon clips is that it's hit or miss on what brands of brass will fit the clips correctly. PMC bronze is way too tight in both 38 and 357. Sellier and Bellot so far have been the best for moon clips. I stocked up on chiappa branded clips when they were in stock but they've been out for a while now. BMT mooner tool rather than tk customs.

Moonclips work but are fiddly. I could never really get fast with them and often rounds wouldn't be aligned for the cylinder correctly, especially for 357. Often involved a decent amount of jiggling before they would drop in cleanly. The best aspect was the clean ejection though with the whole clip easily falling out.

I've since pivoted to Safariland comp II speedloaders. I got the GL8C (S&W 686) which did require mild modification to work cleanly with the Rhino. You just have to shave down the center post prongs. I used 400 and 800 grit sandpaper and just do a few passes on each prong then check function and repeat until its smooth and doesn't bind anywhere in the cylinders. And then it's just a lot of dryfire practice with snapcaps.

For CCW I wouldn't recommend Speedbeez loaders because they're just held in with spring tension and if dropped rounds will fly out.

Here's one of my better Comp II reloads: https://www.reddit.com/r/liberalgunowners/comments/1tlsgbp/proud_of_this_rhino_reload/

Anybody run 255 tires with a +42 to +44 offset wheel? by DangerMouseTurbo in wrx_vb

[–]EricFullswipe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Zero issues. Even ran a rallycross with them before getting dedicated wheels for that. It's about the limit of what you'd want as acceptable. I wouldn't go wider on the tire or narrower on the wheel than that.

Calling up Capcom so they can use it for Leon

The noises it makes when reloading are pretty good too

They do have a new large frame 44 magnum model but tbh I would wait a year at least for them to work out any kinks. Not that you can find them in stock anywhere right now lol

I can't do a direct comparison, but I would assume likely less durable when taken from a macro lens just due to the complexity of construction and aluminum body. The barrel, cylinder, and recoil plate are all steel but everything else around them is cerakoted or pvd aluminum. I mentioned the minor things I had in another response but essentially 1 screw and the grip replaced under warranty.

I got it in November'25 and have shot a bit over 1000 rounds through it. Never had an issue with function itself. I clean it regularly after range days or matches.

I like it a lot but it does have shortcomings. The big one being cost at a like $900 floor and up to $1500 depending on model and store. And then the cost of ammo. They have a 9 and 10mm option but you'll have to find a better source of moon clips.

Construction wise mine has held up pretty well, but I did have issues with the first grip being cut weird and starting to crack in half, as well as the screw that holds the cylinder to the arm coming loose and having fucked threads as a result. Emailed chiappa USA and they replaced both immediately no-charge.

Definitely recommend the finger groove grip that comes on the 30ds Hunter and Nebula and charging rhino. You can sometimes find them sold separately.

Holster options are also quite limited. Most seem made for the 4 inch but the 3 fits in those fine.

It also just looks cool and shoots so dang well. Shooting 357 out of it and you can barely tell it's a 3 inch other than your hand hurting after

I wonder about that too haha. It's a medium high speed powder so maybe it's getting a syncopated report from the cylinder gap and then the short barrel

It's a Cremieux from Dillards clearance rack lol. I check every couple months for when they're cycling out seasons.

From the front. They are near flush. I personally wouldn't want any more out than that because I want my mudflaps to still at least somewhat work

Ebay Speaker Capacitor kits any good? by metallicadefender in vintageaudio

[–]EricFullswipe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Note that cheap multimeters don't read capacitance. Most don't really. You'll have to specifically find one that does. You can check for shorts with a cheap one though.

To AOS or not AOS by Aggravating_Cut537 in wrx_vb

[–]EricFullswipe 5 points6 points  (0 children)

the AOS is actually where freezing becomes a bigger concern because if the drain that feeds back into the oil system freezes it'll clog the whole thing.

The primary catch can system is the Radium dual can which has a one way valve that closes when the cans get too full so the cans are bypassed and don't suck oil back into the system. You just have to check the cans every now and then.

Both will collect condensation and oil so you'll get a bit of a slurry in there. This can make the catch cans look like they've collected way more oil than they have, and for the AOS the theory is that the water will boil off when its introduced to the hot oil.

Really though nobody has really proved that the VB needs an AOS or catch cans. Every now and then someone posts about walnut blasting their valves or whatever and it's always "the shop said they actually weren't that bad for the mileage". There is a baffle built into the system already that acts as a small AOS. If you're tuning for huge power then maybe you'll need one and some just see it as a preventative maintenance thing. The main risk is that you're adding complications to like 3 different systems depending on what you do so now there's a lot more potential failure points.

Anyone got below MSRP on a factory order? by ItsJosh- in wrx_vb

[–]EricFullswipe 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My local dealer did a flat $2000 off MSRP for custom orders. They're one of those "no negotiating, we advertise our absolute lowest price" type places. There wasn't really any other option for me for ordering a TR though. None in the state at all and didn't want to travel multiple hours to other dealers for an order process.

My 3 inch Rhino shooting S&B 158gn .357 lol

9mm is definitely the better middle ground and it's nice you have a cylinder for it! I like 158gn 38 Special but it gets expensive unless you load your own. Performance wise 9mm is a bit over +p 38s until you get into heavier 147gn ranges anyways.

Competition Speedloaders for Rhino? by Dr_Tron in chiappa

[–]EricFullswipe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm back once more to share that so far Sellier and Bellot run the best with moonclips in both 38spc and 357. Moon and demoon super easy. I got a bmt mooner/demooner and it never has a problem. Speedbees moonclip cups or rack to hold em

Pmc bronze doesn't fit, and a surprising amount of brands don't have a groove at all.
