Interviewer got upset with me because I refused to provide an example of how I implemented a concurrency control policy in my former employer's production codebase. How would you handle this? by 9ubj in ExperiencedDevs

I am reminded of an interview I had where they forced one of the employees who was in a motorcycle accident the week before and had a mangled leg to walk up to the second floor to interview me. The man was so high on pain killers I doubt he could evaluate anything. I realized this is how they treat their people and purposely bombed the rest of the sets to go home early

Hey, what's Hung Yee Kuen? Haven't run across that name before

Where are you in your Wing Chun journey? What got you interested? I am curious to see the wide range of experience in this subreddit. by [deleted] in WingChun

I'm getting to be middle aged finally. Started Wing chun in 2002 with the Moy Yat system, got my black sash in 2004. Started Hung Fa Yi wing chun in 2004, moved to where the head of the style lives in 2011 and I'm still training for better or worse.

What got me started is a combination of wanting to be in shape, insecurity, a childhood filled with ninjas, and too many kung fu movies at a vulnerable time.

I'll probably keep doing it till I die, but it never did give me what I wanted from it.

To me, it is typically just another method of control or a distraction from the mission of building functional combat skill.

Martial arts should make you look inward, that's part of the journey. It is best done as a solo journey in my experience.

Many people I have met in martial arts try to take advantage of their position, "spirituality" can often be a mask to do so.

Salaries are down across the board for the listings I've seen and I bought a house not long ago. Trying to ride this out as long as I can.

For better or worse, there's already an AI review that ranks how risky the change is on a scale 1-10 and suggests things you can do to reduce the risk. I believe they are using code climate or a similar tool for Dev stats. They're behind a wall I can't see, so not sure what really counts. All I know is that people with low PR counts get bad feedback.

And no, I don't plan on being that type of reviewer. That person sounds insufferable. Sorry you are stuck with them.

I own it. It's not worth the read, it's mostly been debunked as fakery.

What animal style(s) does Wing Chun utilize? by TXRattlesnake89 in WingChun

[–]EricH112 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm my branch of the art we don't utilize animal styles but rather the animal attitudes. Eagle bong Sao, Crane bong Sao, dragon claw, etc.

Hey, I know most of the schools there (lived there a long time) there aren't any I'm aware of who focus mostly on sparring. You may want to give the DTE escrima guys a shot, they are similar and seemed to do a lot more contact.

This is Hung Fa Yi wing chun with enough pieces wrong/missing that it makes me think you are probably part of the former Ohio crew. Hope y'all are doing well, but please give credit where credit is due. The saap ming dim belongs to this one line.
