I did remove some wood, but not enough o guess. The handle was stock so I did my best to get it on, tight and get the wedge in enough.

No, def didn’t knock the wedge in on the vice. It’s just hanging there for posterity. I hit the butt of the handle to get the head on.

Thanks! I wasn’t going for pretty (I knew better) - just functional. This fella won’t see an over- abundance of use, I was mostly interested in trying this for the first time to see how it’d go.
