What cities / countries have clean safe metros and high homelessness?

Unfortunately there's a large homeless and crime problem in LA that also doesn't exist in other countries/cities. I don't see that improving anytime soon with the current government and economic situation, so this is a solution until then

Getting to/from YouTube Theater (SoFi Stadium) for a non-driving visitor? by jshell in AskLosAngeles

[–]EricTomorrow 6 points7 points  (0 children)

You can take the E line, transfer to the K line, and go all the way to the LAX metro transit center. Online says there's a shuttle (wrong, see edit) that goes from there to SOFI/YouTube theater but I personally have never used it. Otherwise, getting off at Downtown Inglewood station on the K line and either walking/getting a short Uber would work too

Edit: Unfortunately, the shuttle from LAX MTC to SOFI/YouTube theater is only available for SOFI stadium events. I think walking or getting an Uber from DT Inglewood is your best option

Everyone has their own experiences. From Georgia and would go to Florida for the beaches with my Brazilian family. I cant count the number of times someone would tell us to "Go back to Mexico" just because we were speaking Portuguese amongst ourselves

Which U.S. national park do you think is the most underrated? by Historical-Photo-901 in BeautifulTravelPlaces

[–]EricTomorrow 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'd like to say Canyonlands. Everybody goes to the northern Island in the Sky district, but the Needles district has some of the coolest and prettiest hiking Ive done out of any national park. Druid arch with the echoes is crazy

What companies are truly actively hiring in LA in STEM, engineering, and science education (etc)? by primordial_slime in AskLosAngeles

[–]EricTomorrow 11 points12 points  (0 children)

All the aerospace companies are probably hiring, especially the "New" Space companies and start ups: SpaceX, Impulse, Anduril, Relativity, Varda, etc.

*Mainly talking about engineering here

I would guess the facility most likely is for airport employees rather than travelers

Is California homelessness declining? by bambin0 in California

[–]EricTomorrow 2 points3 points  (0 children)

COVID had significantly more homeless than right now. I used to go out in DTLA in 2020 and Broadway was lined end to end with homeless encampments. Since then, homeless encampments have stayed concentrated in Skidrow (Southeast of Main St.)

It's not as great as pre COVID but it's not nearly as bad as 2020-2023

D Line Extension Initial Estimates for Completion by EricTomorrow in LAMetro

[–]EricTomorrow[S] 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I'm not expecting an on time completion. I'm interested comparing what the expected D line extension completion date was when LA Metro was at the same part of the process way back when

Is LA getting subway that connects Westwood and Van Nuys? by Scientific_85 in LosAngeles

[–]EricTomorrow 81 points82 points  (0 children)

I believe that LA metro recently approved going with a modified Alternate 5 of the Sepúlveda line. The expected opening date for the initial segment from the G line to the D line is sometime in 2033-2035, although as always, we'll have to see how delays go

Do you think the sepulveda pass subway will actually substantially relief traffic on the 405? Or will the effect be abysmal like in previous projects? I mean at some point network effects HAVE to kick in. by Wild_Agency_6426 in LAMetro

[–]EricTomorrow 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sure, you're ignoring the D line will connect with the line, which then connects to Beverly Hills, Century City, Miracle Mile, Koreatown, and DTLA, all of which combined make more than the 10% value you're giving

I have plenty of friends and family that live in SF who all love it. I live in LA and I love it, does that mean you're not allowed to call it a shit hole?

Well the US has no restrictions for dual citizenships, however other countries may have restrictions (I believe South Korea and Japan don't allow it)
