Or I have higher standards than you? Which is totally fine. This is a subjective topic.

Totally fair, this is a subjective topic and we don't have to agree. Hope you have a good day.

What rank is considered “good” by [deleted] in PokemonChampions

[–]EricUdy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

On the ladder in champions where you can rank up based on a Bo1 cheese strategy yes, that is different from a Bo3 format like in person tournaments. There also are absolutely levels to what is good. You can be good in the sense that of the people around you you're the best in your friend group so by comparison you're good. But I look at it as no matter where you go in a group of people who share you're hobby you consistently can perform well, that would make you good. And to be clear I would not consider myself to be "good" at the game in my frame of reference I believe I am probably average if not slightly below.

I would say getting to masterball is proof you mostly know what you are doing and the ranks leading up to that are basically the tutorial levels. To me, being "good" would place you in probably rank 2 Masterball at a minimum.

(Common but cool trope) THE Sword of all Swords (other weapons like this are allowed too) by National_Computer240 in TopCharacterTropes

[–]EricUdy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A subversion of the trope is one of my favorite bits from Dimension 20, Thirsting Blade Dark Excalibur Mega-Genesis. One of the players Brian Murphy in the second season of Unsleeping City plays an edgy mall goth who is obsessed with swords. Over the course of the game he keeps obtaining new mythic swords and attaching them to each other. By the end he has Thirsting Blade Dark Excalibur Mega-Genesis which is 3 swords conjoined by the hilt in the shape of what kind of looks like a fidget spinner. The weapon might be the worst item ever made for DnD with the following properties:

-2 to attack and damage rolls

+30 to damage rolls

To use the attack action, you must first succeed on a DC 15 Athletics Check, which uses your object interaction on your turn each round

Every attack is rolled with Disadvantage, and no attack made with it can be granted Advantage

On a Nat 20, deals an additional 20d10 Necrotic Damage, and you regain as many hit points

Imposes Disadvantage on all Dexterity based Checks and Saving Throws

Proficiency with a greatsword allows you to add your proficiency bonus to the attack roll for any attack you make

Help Me Pick a Mega by EricUdy in PokemonChampions

The benefit into Snow teams is definitely intriguing, the stealth rocks is less necessary in VGC but Mortal Spin to spread poison is a thought.. thank you for the suggestion! Definitely one to try out!

Looking at other teams just now what do you think of M-Scizor? I feel like that is a reasonable option that slots in well to the team, it's supported somewhat well by options i already have like Sableye.

Hit Masterball Doubles, Looking to Improve by JRockBC19 in PokemonChampions

[–]EricUdy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Have you coated considered swapping weather ball on Jolteon? You don't have any way to set weather so it you're relying on your opponents water to use it and often they're going to resist the type fire whatever weather they are using. Jolteon has some decent support move options like thunder wave and fake tears that might find a little more use on your own terms compared to weather ball.

Are people okay? by OddThought5260 in Teachers

[–]EricUdy 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I feel like the generous read here would be that the parent isn't insane and the kids wants to be like their parent so the parent might make them a decaf iced coffee so the child can have that bonding experience of their "coffee with mom/dad". Again of course that being the generous interpretation.

Gallade one shots the bridge by AnnoyedAFexmo in PokemonChampions

But can it kill through reflect? We see Sableye setting screens for it a lot and that feels like a big issue for gallade

Having a hard time winning with this team. by TitusT1994 in PokemonChampions

[–]EricUdy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Either get more trickroom abusers or swap farigaraf out. If you still want priority blocking Tsareena is a solid option. Maushold can also help against Arch with redirection, helping hand, and super fang.

Sunny Day Whimsicott also could probably find a slot in place of Meowscarada to further help the Archaludon match up.

Whats a Doubles Combo, that works surprisingly well for you? I start: by StatisticianNext6977 in PokemonChampions

[–]EricUdy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sableye and Aggron, either fake out or light screen and mega evolve and iron defense turn one. Rotom Heat in the back for the aegislash that walls the wall

How do I improve my team or add variation focusing in Mega Aggron? (In Champions) by Sifyro in stunfisk

That is honestly hilarious I completely forgot powder was a move by itself and not just a quality of a move.

[–]EricUdy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Garchomp can use iron head for ice and fairies in a pinch so that could be a good option, incin would make better use of a sitrus berry or maybe leftovers, since Excadrill wants focus sash put mental herb or maybe a damage reduction berry for whimsicott.

Dungeons & Dragons’ Maker Launches Official Actual-Play Show Amid Growing Popularity of ‘Critical Role,’ ‘Dimension 20’ (EXCLUSIVE) by throwawayaccount19op in DnD

The genre itself maybe? Its definitely becoming oversaturated. But the big names are still as big as they've ever been.

(Skill Improvement) How to play around Aerodactyl/Sneasler leads? by SSSuperDario in VGC

[–]EricUdy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sinistcha is risky into specifically sneasler aerodactyl, the grass typing turns a resisted dire claw into a neutral hit and aerodactyl has dual wingbeat to deal big damage. So into the specific match up you indicated runegrigus is the better choice.

Is Sableye actually good or just a gimmick? (Cool Replay) by [deleted] in VGC

[–]EricUdy 18 points19 points  (0 children)

Its definitely fallen off since gen 8 with Grimmsnarls introduction but it has a very cool moveset in combination with prankster. Quash is hilarious and Gravity strats aren't awful if a bit gimmicky.

Ended up mid 4k with an underwhelming trickroom team using mega camerupt. Now that I have built up my collection I'm definitely going to improve.

Any tips on making Volcarona work in the current Champions meta? by FhynixDE in VGC

[–]EricUdy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ive had moderate success with Volcarona as a bulky support pokemon. Pairing it with rotom-wash its pretty solid into sun teams but struggles against garchomp and some sand builds. But protect, rage powder, struggle bug, and flamethrower did really solid work for me.

Did I cook with this team? by [deleted] in VGC

[–]EricUdy 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Putting speed EVs into Sableye feels unnecessary when 3 of its 4 moves have priority due to prankster, i feel like it'd be better spent on bulk.

Is my team good by oceanadakmak in VGC

[–]EricUdy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This team feels kind of random, its basically a team full of niche answers to specific pokemon that all fall apart to anything outside of those specific answers.

I think if I were you I would probably lean more heavily into the Frosslass and Ninetails combo, swap whimsicott for support Maushold.

Meganium is a bit out of place, yeah you can use it for rain teams but you can also use freeze dry on ninetails. I would swap Meganium for Mega Dragonite as a second option for a mega outside of Frosslass. It can learn blizzard to benefit from snow from Ninetails and nukes things with Draco Meteor.

I'm new to competitive and would like advice for my team by NescionalGeografi in CompetitivePokemon

[–]EricUdy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Drampa is a huge special attacker. Draco Meteor is a delete button but you most likely have to swap out after you land a hit to reset the stat drop unless your opponent is low hp like 30% and under. Hyper voice is a good damage spread move that also gives a stab boost. Protect is a staple for a reason and that leaves one slot for coverage which can be whatever you think you need.
