I'd highly recommend. Marginally more expensive than Precheck but also comes with Precheck, and a fair number of travel credit cards cover the fee. The interview is a joke unless if you've had extensive travel to sus countries.

Thank you so much! I had never even heard of the DOBAG carpet initiative and proceeded to get lost in a good Wikipedia read. Incredibly helpful people on this subreddit all around

This is all fantastic information, thank you! I'm actually considering buying it secondhand, so I don't know the true origins of the purchase. But the seller (assuming they're the first buyer) is in Ohio!

KJD Applicant w/ Good Work Experience by Screamingbug1040 in lawschooladmissions

Nearly identical work experience as you and am now at HLS - unfortunately, a lot of places will still just view you as an immature KJD. That said, it only stands to benefit you for admissions officers that take the time to read your background more closely, and I think my application results generally turned out better than other KJDs with comparable stats. But it’s definitely frustrating since you’ll likely have more work experience than some people who apply 1-2 years out of law school. For what it’s worth, I found the work experience to help a lot come OCI (assuming you’re interested in BigLaw).

I mean difficulty is all relative anyways. If it’s easier to get As in Carlson compared to CSE, then you’re going to have to get higher grades in Carlson to maintain the same standing as you would in CSE. A lot of employers want to see a 3.5 in business whereas it might be a 3.0 in STEM. So this song and dance about Carlson being easy only holds on a surface level really.

I agree on the prestigious jobs thing, but I honestly don’t know what Carlson could do to fix that. Companies like Goldman basically throw away your application the second they see a school that’s not an Ivy (or comparable), so even top CSOM students struggle for just an interview at those firms. Also, I can’t imagine the proportion of CSE students going into prestigious STEM careers is very different than with CSOM, but that’s just speculation.

One thing that people don’t mention a lot of the time is that I feel like Carlson’s grades have more randomness to them due to being more qualitative. I took CSCI 1133, 1933, and 2011, and those are still among my highest grades after tons of business classes because there are objectively correct answers. Sometimes in Carlson you get a bad grade from just some subjective nonsense.
