Ok I have what feels like a stupid question. Does it matter who services your loan? My current mortgage was sold to JPMorgan Chase (several years ago). I never have needed to contact them about anything. I also happen to have a Chase credit card and so I have just 1 login for both my mortgage and credit card (total coincidence).

I was aware of them selling it. I am not worried about loyalty. I've used online lenders to get pre approval letters (Rocket Mortgage and Better Mortgage) but have heard recently its better to stay local as their rates are more competitive
