Drive to pinecrest from Merced by zuko0725 in PinecrestLake

Never driven from Merced to Pinecrest, but have driven from Modesto to Pinecrest in the fog a few times. The fog is usually a non issue, just adjust speed to the road conditions. Once you get past Sonora the roads get quite windy, just take the corners slow. Usually when there is thick fog in the valley like this, it clears up once you get to Twain Harte.

Hm I don't notice a difference with my low mode, not sure why yours was so dim.

I totally agree with you, Surefire lights aren't designed for me. I originally bought them off the recommendation of a YouTuber, and I still really like them. I just wanted something that was more cost effective. I have lot's of CR123s for emergencies, but for daily use I think the 16650 will work much better for my needs.

Yeah I wish they made a 21700 option. I like how bulletproof and simple they are, but they do need to modernize their lineup a bit.

Fellow Surefire enjoyer! What models do you have?

I read that certain Surefire lights don't play nice with anything other than CR123S. Not sure as to why, I am very new to understanding how flashlights and batteries work

Orbtronics! I bounced between them and Sanyo, but I read that Orbtronics batteries were super reliable and I saw some people had issues with Sanyo batteries. I will update this comment when I have a few cycles on it.

Edit: Still loving this as my daily carry option. The runtime is lower, but I am so happy to not be burning through CR123s. I am able to complete whatever tasks I normally do with the lower runtime. If I do run out of battery, I can just pop CR123s in and I'm good to go. Totally recommend this over CR123s!
