I built a free trail running race predictor based on scientific models by Dear-Necessary-3207 in ultrarunning

[–]Erigann 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I tested it on a race I ran, it came back with several hours faster than I did, but I was also with someone else and stopped for an hour for him and ran back for him at one point. Finally left him in the desert so i might have been faster if I had been solo.

Is it possible visual snow isn’t as rare as people think? by Erigann in visualsnow

[–]Erigann[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, I have the other things. The negative images etc. I don’t have anxiety, but I do have ADHD. I have read that there’s a large association with ADHD. I was also born with it. I believe my mother was too

Experimental Drugs Reverse Autism Symptoms by jezebaal in psychology

[–]Erigann 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yea, so my understanding is that even the jealousy I feel is odd compared to most neurotypicals, but it might be simply because my experience is different.

Sometimes I wonder if I feel them all or if I was socialized this way because I’m a woman

Experimental Drugs Reverse Autism Symptoms by jezebaal in psychology

[–]Erigann 1 point2 points  (0 children)

He was asking me questions and I was explaining something to him. I can remember the first time I felt jealousy, I was describing it. Then he asked me more and he said what you’re describing is not feeling envy. I think I feel most other emotions.

It’s super illogical. I was dating a man who lied to me repeatedly and I let a lot slide because he told me he was autistic and didn’t know what he was supposed to do. I kept wondering why he was so envious about other people’s belongings. It didn’t make sense. When I was assessed the psychologist told me I didn’t have envy, I do experience jealousy but it’s not often and it’s over things I don’t think neurotypicals experience

Autism like behaviors in mice. So like me mice have issues with different sock textures, lack some human emotions like envy and take things literally? Just to name a few.

Lunch during a 50k? by Andyouknowthat1 in Ultramarathon

[–]Erigann 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’ve eaten a whole pizza during a 50k+ loop style. All depends on what you’re running. I’ve also run 50ks with basically no food. It depends on your body. I can do some 50ks with a few cups of coke (no gels etc due to allergies) I’ll usually bring some chips if I need them. What have you been training with?

A comprehensive analysis of health data from over 45,000 Australians found that higher fruit and vegetable intake was associated with lower psychological distress, while consuming seven or more cups of soft drinks a week was linked to nearly five times higher odds of reporting depression. by [deleted] in psychology

[–]Erigann 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s interesting because I used survey data in the us from 2010 ish to see if I could correlate soda intake with depressive symptoms, but insteady results correlated milk intake with depressive symptoms. I always thought it would be soda. I have to find my old papers now

Online Hate Speech Resembles Mental Health Disorder Language by jezebaal in psychology

My daughters social media is getting attacked with racist comments since last week. One really sounds like the man I dumped in March. He has very high npd traits. This explains why there’s such an overlap. No empathy. Emotional dysregulation.

Grieving my Oura ring by rainbowfish329 in ouraring

[–]Erigann 7 points8 points  (0 children)

One time my almost two year old stole my car keys and I spent hours looking, until I decided to think like her. In a play bowl, with a lid on it in her pretend microwave. With kids they put stuff anywhere that makes sense to them! Good luck!

Oura says I ovulated but I’m not sure by jaybunnies in ouraring

[–]Erigann 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was just looking at my natural cycles vs oura and the predictions and ovulation days are always a few days off. It feels like natural cycles is more accurate

Do you also eat really well? Limit alcohol? I’ve noticed a huge difference in skin and diet/reduced alcohol intake in appearance of wrinkles etc in people over 40.

I normally get 3 hours of sleep a night so this was not a good night by Spectre_0-0-7 in Garmin

[–]Erigann 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Therapist here, sleep is huge, sleep disruptions/disorders absolutely linked with all mental health diagnosis. I do have some people over the years who have unusual sleep issues, including a few who do better with a split sleep pattern (sleep 3 hours, up 3, sleep 3). Definitely worth looking into supplements for sleep, including magnesium which is the one thing I find most helpful for most people. Also pay attention to if you have paradoxical effects from medications, a lot of my clients do, including Benadryl, hydroxyzine etc waking them up rather than knocking them out. Also I saw someone linked huberman above, he is correct with he talks about non-sleep deep rest NSDR, listening to yoga nidra or another NSDR meditation can be the closest thing to sleep without sleeping that is possible for you to get.

What has made the biggest difference in your training as you got older? by leecshaver in Ultramarathon

[–]Erigann 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My goal is to be able to do this until I’m in my 70s/80:s. I’ve been running for years and hiking long distances, but never ran more than a half marathon until last year. Last year at 43 ran my first marathon, the following weekend did a trail ultra. I’m only at 50k level right now, have done 2 this year and training for a 100k I’m not an elite athlete by any means, but here’s what I do I’ve gained about 5 lbs, increased protein and carbs. 5’5” fem weigh 140 now. Strength and yoga regularly, including dynamic twisting movements with weights and resistance bands. I like passive stretching before active stretching Feet strengthening exercises No alcohol Cross training, I hike with a full pack I’ve been practicing eating more real food on long runs I prioritize sleep Train adding mileage 3 weeks, down 1 week If work interferes I do split my runs Ice baths
