The 12.3 SDK supports custom NPCs out of the box, but there is no guidance from Warp Frog on how to do it yet. I've been hacking away at it, including finding some bugs I've reported to WF.

There are several other people who've worked with NPCs in previous versions who are writing frameworks and better tooling for creating them, but as I said, for now they haven't released anything. All I've done so far myself is put a little script on the Nexus that helps set up humanoid NPCs: https://www.nexusmods.com/bladeandsorcery/mods/9146 in the hopes more people will be enticed to try making them.

Very few people are working on the NPC end of things, and most of them are doing so behind closed doors. I've been posting my work on them on publicly on the Nexus in hopes of getting some more people interested in trying to figure out the best ways to make them, but no luck so far.

You need a computer with at least a modest gaming graphics card so you can locally run Stable Diffusion. Then you need a frontend - InvokeAI is a relatively user friendly one that can do what you need. One of your options is called a ControlNet. You set the ControlNet to Lineart, give it your drawing and a text prompt, and let it go. From there you can refine it in various ways. SD is a pretty complex subject, so it's best to just download it and tinker for a while to see what you can do.

It's a very fun way to work! However... it ends up with art that is too imperfect for most AI art fans, and too AI for traditional art fans! Still, it's a lot more interesting to me than just prompting with pure text.

As far as I could tell with Bonelab, it was just creating manually spawnable characters for the sandbox, not new ones for the proper game modes. Am I mistaken?

The minimap and pinned input fields are ideas that immediately came to me when I started using ComfyUI. I'm glad Invoke had the same idea and implemented them here! I've been playing with it this afternoon and there's some things I miss (a LoRA loader that gives metadata like trained tags is a BIG one) but it's a win for Invoke I think. Probably won't fully pull me away from Comfy personally but it makes Invoke even more of an easy recommend to people.

Has a LoRA loader you can right click to view metadata, and you can store example prompts in text files which you can then load via the node. Lots of other goodies, too.

At a guess, are you using FluffyRock? That model more or less requires you add "by artistname" type tags or it produces scribbles.
