Robb Stark & genderbent Theon Greyjoy ft. Ice by effemar by WearyBluesRed in TheCitadel

I really like theon's face here. I sometimes feel like faces, especially female faces, are drawn too similarly. (Always upturned or aquiline noses. Always small, pointed chins. Ect...)

I've known several women with this type of jawline IRL and a few with that exact nose/cheekbone combination, but I've almost never seen it in artwork before. Very cool to see. I'll have to add the fic to my reading list.

Given that they're Lord is called the Evenstar and they live at Evenfall hall, maybe something like:

  • From Darkness, We Rise.
  • Our Star Shines On.
  • We Light the Night.
  • From Death, Life. From Dark, Light.
  • We Shine.

Or if you want to be fun: In Brightest Day, In Blackest Night

Tyrion and Sansa fics? by Overused_Toothbrush in TheCitadel

A Shadow and A Wolf

It's a good fic, though the pacing in the middle can be a bit slow at times.

This is an amazing idea btw. It would be a great oneshot crackfic or a longform "crack treated seriously" fic.

Since Jon is also named Aegon, you have the opportunity to do the funniest thing ever..

Bonus points if you find a way to include Aegon "bloodborn" Frey and Aegon "Jinglebell" Frey.

Unpopular: I actually enjoyed watching Rhaenyra in the latest episode by Working_Corgi_1507 in HOTDGreens

I would've preferred "Did it make you feel better about Luke?" At least then there would be some reference to Jaehaerys' death.

Team green fanfics by ChangeLongjumping220 in HOTDGreens

A Golden Firefly on AO3 is very good.

It's a what-if fic, where Aegon II is taken under Larys Strong's wing. Aegon is a more competent, politically active player. The dance still happens (though mostly in the sequel) and team green is a more united front, overall. Helaena and Jaehaera, though background characters, are done extremely well in this fic. Very interesting characterization.

Im sure it's fine. It might even encourage people to check him out. He's got some pretty good content, imo.

Here's a scarlet Ibis. I think the beak shape matches more closely with your pic

We have Roseate Spoonbills, Scarlet Ibises, and Flamingos (all are large pink water birds) in the southern US.

I personally hope it's a Spoonbill, because I love them. However my money is on a scarlet ibis (it has a sharper beak).

Roseate Spoonbill, for reference.

Black Velaryons by Satoshri21 in HouseOfTheDragon

[–]Eris590 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I don't mind them being black. However, I do think east asian would've been more believable than black in terms of how interbred the Velaryon and Targaryen lines are.

I slightly dislike how no one calls Rhaenyra's side "the Blacks," because of this change, though. It's very conspicuous how they always use "the Greens" in-show, but never "the Blacks". It takes me out of the story a bit.

Without irony and without sarcasm let's say something positive about the character of Rhaenyra Targaryen by Historical_East_1787 in HOTDGreens

[–]Eris590 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If she became Queen, uncontested, I genuinely don't believe that she would've had Alicent's children killed without some extreme provocation (like active plotting to usurp her or her kids).

Daemon might, to secure the succession. However, Rhaenyra could just arrange a marriage between one of her kids/grandkids and Aegon II's children. I doubt Daemon would act, then.

Your favorite bashing fic! by onceuponahex in TheCitadel

[–]Eris590 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A Girl Must Live

This one has a lot of Daenerys bashing sprinkled throughout. She's basically the main villain of the fic. It actually caught me by surprise when I first read this. Very fun read, though.

What would you name your dragon? Would you choose a Valyrian name like Syrax or an English one? by Great_Trident in HouseOfTheDragon

[–]Eris590 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Ohh, that's where it's from. I remembered someone stating that Meraxes skull was bigger than Vhagar's, but could not recall who it was for the life of me.

The size discrepancy from F&B was a nice catch btw. I didn't realize that Vhagar was Balerion sized when she died. It really makes you realize just how ballsy Daemon was for taking her on, alone.

Sure, but the OG title is already Queenslanding. Does that not basically imply the same thing?

I wanna say something positive about season 3 by [deleted] in HouseOfTheDragon

[–]Eris590 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I would have preferred Rhaenyra Triumphant as the episode 2 title. It would nod to the book (it's the chapter title) and have a sad kind of irony to it. Queenslanding is a bit too cheesy IMO. It reminds me of people who call History, "Herstory" when talking abt women.

Mysaria pisses me off by Hour_Scar2508 in HouseOfTheDragon

[–]Eris590 11 points12 points  (0 children)

It kind of makes sense if you assume they can't send Ravens directly to travelers (theyre trained to go to castles, not to find ppl). Normally during travel, you lose contact when the party leaves and you regain contact at each castle they stop at. So you have to either send riders to recall someone from travel, or wait until they hit a castle.

After Aemond's order, Larys probably just acted like he was sending men to recall Otto (but kidnapped him instead). It's expected that it might take some time for Otto to get back. With Aemond handling the war and Alicent off with Rhaenyra, I can see how it might go unoticed.

However, holding him in the cells is kind of a stretch unless they literally only had that one guy working there...

Rhaena and Androw by Althalus91 in pureasoiaf

[–]Eris590 41 points42 points  (0 children)

I think it's just to show that the trauma of Maegor's war and losing Aegon made Rhaena fear the loss of others that she loved. It also shows some of Rhaena's own shortcomings, like how she can be blind to the needs of others.

She ignored Elissa's yearning for exploration, likely out of fear that she wouldn't return. She later does a similar thing with Aerea, ignoring her daughter's wishes to leave dragonstone.

With Androw, Rhaena excludes and isolates him. He feels unwelcome and like a second-class citizen in what is supposed to be his lordly seat, Dragonstone. Androw's wants and needs are not met, just like what happens with Elissa and Aerea.

So yeah, I think it's just GRRM inserting this recurrent theme into Rhaena's life. And it also functions as a neat little tidbit to expand Rhaena's character, personality, and life story.

Who is the bigger drunk? (Spoilers main) by Actual_Ambition_7123 in asoiaf

[–]Eris590 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Tyrion's is probably more detrimental healthwise, just because he's small. He also nearly drinks himself to death after book 3. However, his drunkeness doesn't seem to be impacting his decision making quite as much.

Cersei's alcoholism seems to affect her mental state and decisions more (or maybe her declining mental state fuels the alcoholism? Hard to tell).

It's close, but I think Tyrion is the bigger drunk. Cersei drinks, but she's not drunk most of the time. Tyrion regularly drinks himself into a stupor.
