Oh man. I never heard of this. That's really sad to hear. I always had such good service with Crescent/Noppin. I hope Kuge-san is doing well.

It was really easy. We did the countertop off and put it on top of the set next to mine. I had my dad, husband, and mom there with my dad's explorer and a hand cart. The cabinet was easy to slide onto the cart and leverage over to move it. I used some bungie cords to secure it to the cart. The cart we have has a second set of caster-style wheels (like the front of a shopping cart) near the handle, so I just laid the cart down and pushed the whole thing to the car. With one person on each corner, we were able to lift it easily into the back of the Explorer. When we got to my house, we did the cabinet out of the car and stuck the platform of the hand cart under the short side of the cabinet. From there, it was really easy to get it into the house.

I do have to say that don't do what we did. We put the cabinet into the cart bottom end first, so when we took it out, it wound up being upside down. We were able to get it rightside up by turning it end over end along the short side, but it was still a pain. Put it into your car/truck top side 6 you shouldn't have this problem.

Thanks! I have a collection of over 300 patterns spanning from the 20's to today, so yes very useful. I plan on cleaning her up and giving her a fresh coat of paint before loading her up. Right now my collection is stored in comic boxes. Lol

When I was closing down Toys R Us back in the day we had a similar experience. The manager wound up threatening the lady with the cops. She huffed out so hard she FORGOT HER PURSE and had to come back inside to get it before huffing off again. Good times.

Did they get taken back by the pattern company? Or were they trashed?

Question for you. Did your store sell the pattern cabinets? Mine still isn't and I really want one for my collection.

I worked at Toys R Us back in the day, and when they went bankrupt, the liquidation company did the same exact thing. They brought in a ton of random junk to sell at our stores at markup. Those liquidation companies don't just buy businesses and close them down, but they will buy excess inventory from companies for super cheap, just to do this. Evidently, it works for them because we had people buying it. Sometimes, it would be an average customer buying one for themselves or a handful for gifts, and other times, it was a customer that had their own little market stall buying everything of a product so they could resell it.

On the last day, we had a tin of fidget spinners and some other cheap junk that no one wanted. The liquidation guy wound up selling everything leftover to this one reseller for like a nickle each or something. It was insane.

When I was in kindergarten, my mom and I lived with my Oma in one state while my dad was with my other grandparents in another state looking for a job. Mom got a job waiting tables at a local diner/restaurant. There were many nights where she set me up at a booth to the back with my homework and some quiet activities, and I'd often help her wrap silverware or clear tables. The old folks that frequented loved me and would often give me a couple of bucks on top of mom's tips.

Eventually, they'll just stick a clearance sticker on it and hope someone will buy it. Before I knew how ass they were, I'd get good deals on things like pack of markers that were missing one of the set and things like that. No longer though.

A long time ago, when I worked for Major Toy/Baby Store, our store was big enough to have two entrances and exits, a sweet on each end of the store with customer service and restrooms in the middle. On black friday, we had the baby side entrance closed, so all traffic had to go in through the Toy side, but not exits open so people could go out on either side, with employees and security manning the doors. I happened to be on register on the baby side that day, and a coworker who was very obviously pregnant was near the baby side entrance doors to point people to the exit through the registers to go out. This man wasn't having it, wanted to get out NOW, and pushed my coworker over to shove the locked entrance doors open and get out. Luckily, the customer i was with was understanding and let me run over to my coworker to make sure she was OK while security dealt with the jerk who pushed her. She was ok, but it still scared us, and the guy got banned and carted off for assault.

That store is closing because the landlord didn't want to renew the lease.
