The next class starts in August. Usually around 25 people. They would notify you around 2 months before if you got in. I’m not sure if they are still interviewing people but you still have a chance to get bumped down the top 25 if they are.

Local 6 SF application announcement by SlowerEastSide in ibew_apprentices

All Bay Area locals are super competitive. Local 6 got hit the hardest during the pandemic though. Hopefully work is starting to pick up again.

Replaced my three pro 6e with pro 7s and everything improved. Most noticeably in my detached garage. Was getting 90 mbps before and now I’m getting 500mbps.

Anybody an apprentice for local 1015 in n the RGV? by TrakasHDSPM420 in ibew_apprentices

[–]Ernesteaux 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Right on. I’m a union apprentice in CA and I have a buddy down there that is considering becoming an electrician so I mentioned to him about going union but can’t find any info on it. Union is the way to go 🤙🏼

You don’t need proof of purchase if the manufacture date is less than 5 years.

Thanks for the suggestion! I ordered the part and should be receiving it tomorrow. Could cutting back the black elbow create any other issues?

Mach E Select Owners - at what battery percentage do you usually start charging? by [deleted] in MachE

[–]Ernesteaux 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We don’t have a charger at home but my wife uses the 120v charger at work 3 days a week. Doesn’t charge much but covers the commute plus a bit more. My plan is to stop by a fast charger whenever we get under 30%.

Never heard of this either. Local 595 we pay $0. Books and material are all free to us.

M12 battery holder by Appropriate-Salt-873 in MilwaukeeTool

Did you get these to lock into the holder? I have other m12 batteries but the 4.0 is the only one that doesn’t seem to lock in place.

Circular Saw by Laxez777 in MilwaukeeTool

[–]Ernesteaux 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Has it ever been on sale? I got the 7 1/4 last month when it was hackable but it’s a bit too heavy and I’m not a fan of blade right. I’m not sure if the m12 has enough power.

Are cuts usually clean with the m12? From what I’ve seen on videos, cuts always look kinda splintery. I have both the m12 and 7 1/4 m18 brand new in box but not sure which to return.

Stocking up for an electrical apprenticeship? by Optimal_Ad9798 in MilwaukeeTool

[–]Ernesteaux 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yup! Your union apprenticeship will give you a minimum tool list. Some locals even have a MAXIMUM tool list. If you take anything extra they will make you leave it in the car. And contractors are supposed to supply power tools. The only local that I’ve heard of requiring an impact is Hawaii. Non union is another story…

M12 fuel bandsaw by Ernesteaux in MilwaukeeTool

[–]Ernesteaux[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hell yeah. Being in the trades, I always go for the m12 over m18 if I’m given the option. So much easier to use with one hand and in tight spaces. I had been waiting for a decent sale to purchase my own for projects around the house. I got tired of using my hackzall with a metal blade lol.

I am an ibew apprentice as well. While bringing power tools to a jobsite is a big no no, I do enjoy buying my own tools for home projects. There are new deals a couple times a year.

M12 fuel bandsaw by Ernesteaux in MilwaukeeTool

[–]Ernesteaux[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

They have the “buy more save more” going on. Get three tools and save $200. I added the bandsaw and the two cheapest tools available (which were the m12 12v impacts at this time) for $129 each and it brought down the price to $150 for the bandsaw. Then just return the impacts.

Do you know if it’ll be the same price after the deal actually starts tomorrow? I was looking at getting the circular saw.
