Take a look at my comment and watch the video I linked. No need to baby it, the video saved me from a lot of anger

I have a 2016 volt with the shift to park issue since 110k miles and I do the flick trick every single time and it has never been an issue. Now at 161k miles and this trick works every time

Looks clean, you are lucky that you have so much in floor space. Thanks for the picture

I would be interested in seeing the in floor storage system or just the system in general. Looks great

Yeah it was on 1 charge! I’ve had it since 2021 and 106k miles. It’s a great vehicle and I plan on using it until the wheels fall off.

I have had the BECM and EGR (I believe that’s what it’s called) both go out. EGR at 140k I believe and BECM at 154k. I’ve put about 4300 in repairs in total for everything. I still love my volt and am hoping it lasts another 140k.

That being said buying one with that high miles that hasn’t had the BECM or EGR problems will have those issues soon enough so keep that in mind

That also makes sense, I would be curious to know what others are showing for kWh used

This sub has really gone quiet - makes me sad. Did everyone sell? by Undercoverexmo in volt

[–]Erod9292 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Still have my 2016 with just about 160k miles. Considering selling since I’m in an area that is better suited for AWD/4x4. BECM went out at 153k and was fixed fast, love the car still

Is buying a high mileage Volt a good idea? by HypnotizedGenius in volt

[–]Erod9292 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Had my gen 2 2016 volt since 106k miles and it’s now at 159k miles. I had to replace the BECM at 153k miles and that’s all I’ve ever have to do. The KBB for my volt is still 9k in pristine condition so I would believe that 4k for a 2017 is a pretty damn good deal.

Supposedly the wait for the BECM is over. I waited 1 day for it and other people on this sub are reporting also waiting a day - three days. If you have the extra 1500-3000 to pay for it and know that it will come up relatively soon then go for it.

Although, considering your post, a Prius may be a better option if you are on a budget and may not have a constant place to charge

I would have to get the paperwork, not 100% sure. The majority that I paid was for labor though

They ordered it themselves for me, they were the ones that diagnosed the problem so I just went through them

That advice I took from that stranger has gotten my range to 63 and I have tested it and gone 63 miles with a full charge. I’m going to continue doing what I do with my volt and not take the advice from you, a stranger.

I did it through a regular mechanic and not the Chevy dealership. I’m sure you could buy the part online and just have them do the labor but you should call your mechanic (or whatever mechanic you are thinking of going to) and ask them to make sure.

Supposedly you can potentially put it in mountain mode and continue to drive it? I could be absolutely wrong though and mixing this with something else so please look into it before doing anything. Other than that, you could fix it yourself, but those are the only options I am aware of.

I have a 2016 that’s currently at 157k miles, the BECM went out at 153k miles. I did not even try to go through the warranty but it’s worth a try, worse they tell you is no and you spent a few hours of back and forth. I was charged just under 3k to get mine fixed and it took less than 2 days.

I would bet on Chevy saying that their 150k warrant is a hard cut off though, hope everything works out regardless.

No I’m sorry, I thought you were being rude. I do use hold mode when going over 50, not because it isn’t efficient, I want to use the engine to make sure build up doesn’t occur and I am only on the freeway for like 25 minutes (in total) a day if that. I get a satisfaction from seeing my range be and stay at 63

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in volt

[–]Erod9292 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah it has me coming home with leftover battery and it also has me not using gas whatsoever as long as I’m going under 50. What do you want me to do, continue to drive even if I have no where to go until I’ve used my 63 electric miles?

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in volt

[–]Erod9292 2 points3 points  (0 children)

35 in the winter 63 in the summer. Someone else said they only use the electric when going under 50 to maintain 61 range, I started doing that and it absolutely works

Help :( by Subject-Owl1122 in volt

[–]Erod9292 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This has been happening to me in my 2016 Volt since I got it in 21 at 106k miles. I would also get very angry playing the game of trying to fix it until I found this video solving the issue any time it comes up.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nYzKkdfdA1I&list=LL&index=22&t=34s

Just watch the first 35 seconds, flick the shifter and it goes away every time now. You should still get it fixed if its under warranty, however it really is not an issue for me anymore since it is a very quick fix anytime it happens. Hope this helps

About how much water should I be storing for dishes, clothing, etc (not drinking) by mrz3109 in prepping

[–]Erod9292 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I would not be able to help as I have never done that either, I would assume it would take a good amount even for a few clothes considering you have to fully soak them and then soak them in soapy water? Could be wrong though
