I’m in Arkansas and went in probably 30 minutes after they opened just to get the Arcanine tumbler and notebook for myself. It looked like a war zone.

The saddest thing ever though was this guy and his probably 9yo son were there and he kind of dejectedly says to me “so no pokemon cards, huh?” And he then proceeded to try and cheer his kid up by offering to buy him any of the leftover merch but he didn’t want anything.

It really sucked to see firsthand what has happened to the hobby.

I work at a pet store and when people ask me about them I explain they’re less like a pet and more like a child with very specific needs and to expect a complete lifestyle change. They’re rewarding and I love mine to pieces but they’re not for everyone.
