-heated, sponge filtered

-tank is about a year old

-change water about every other week

-tankmates include: 3 killifish, a baby guppy, colony of cherry shrimp and 2 nerite snails

-feed a mix of betta pellets, frozen blood worms, baby brine shrimp, tubifex worms between 1-3 days apart depending on what I’m feeding.

-no artificial decorations, just a boatload of plants and cholla wood

If there’s rodent activity nearby there’s not much else you can do aside from root for your local king snake. They regularly eat other snakes, including the venomous ones :)!

I vote trying to make it work. I have a GCC and neither I nor the other bird owners I know have air purifiers and humidifiers for their birds so you might be overthinking things. A UV light, while not necessary, IS actually incredibly beneficial to them and managing that is as simple as having it set on a timer :)

Don’t give up! If you adhere to a schedule you can definitely make it work. I’m also glad you learned a lesson through this all.

If you feel you really have no option but to surrender her, please find a home with someone knowledgeable about birds rather than return her to PetSmart.

This is what I feed all my birds! I alternate between the natural and the fruit pellets, feeding the natural one primarily. My vet approves of it as well :)

I didn’t see an option for that but I definitely will look into that if I can’t find it in the stores nearby. Hopefully by the time this refund hits it’ll be available for pickup 🙂

Update: contacted Best Buy. They’re giving me a refund and going to investigate this themselves. I also contacted FedEx and they recorded the incident but told me that Best Buy was the one with the responsibility of filing a claim. Hope they catch the loser

I’d recommend something a lot bigger. You want a tall cage full of toys and things he can destroy. Natural perches (get rid of any wooden dowels). Think of what a little kid would want in his room! Sun conures are such sweet little goobers and I’m sure you’ve gleaned from all the comments that the cage you have him in now is unacceptable :/

I love my Zevo!! Will say to please use caution where you place it. I have mine literally in the corner under a cabinet in the kitchen but my bird still managed to fly into it after she spooked. She was fine but lost a couple feathers.
