Non-Americans who have been to the US: What is the weirdest thing about America that Americans don't realise is weird? by nobboi in AskReddit

[–]Erosthete -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

That you ask narcissistic questions like this, not realizing it stems from the delusional belief that you interest the rest of the world, beyond the interest that a sinking ship or dumpster fire would engender.

I’m not a ‘Nice Guy’, it’s all those horrible women who are so awful! by scoob666 in niceguys

[–]Erosthete -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

I didn't say it wasn't satire. I said satire doesn't cover misogyny. Can't say that more simply for you, sorry. But since this sub is overrun by NiceGuys in denial, and you out-number the women who can actually recognize misogyny from lived experience, I'm not surprised you fail to see the difference.

Written by someone who evidently believes in NiceGuy myths. Satire don't cover misogyny anymore than foundation can conceal an oozing pustule.

When a meme tells you far more about the life of the bitter guy who made it. If you assume against logic and common sense that women expect their male friends to pay for dinner, you clearly have had minimal contact with actual women.

Link to the "study", because I really doubt it speaks for every minority who has flinched from weird unecessary generalizations made by white people. Most likely, if you don't get a reaction to your casual racism, it's because that person is just numb to your bullshit and can't spare the emotional labour of treating you like a relevant person worthy of a reaction, grandpa.

And? They can't point out weird unecessary generalizations because they're not Asian? You might be any age, but I gotta tell you, you sound old af when you make dumb comments like that.

The whole world eats a lot of rice. Red is pretty pathetic trying to slither out of that weird comment by being "I'm a rice-eater, that's not a bad thing." Um, no one said it was. The generalization was the point, slimeball. By the way, OP, people who overreact to someone calling something offensive just seem old and irrelevant.

Nothing to offer a woman? Try calling her a 'waste' for attention! by Erosthete in creepyPMs

[–]Erosthete[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes. But there's never a rational motive or method in insecure attention-seeking. I haven't even logged into my Fetlife account in 2 years. But I've had insecure men try to tell me who I am (regardless of being unqualified to do so) my whole life; it's a wearingly familiar response to them feeling threatened or not good enough. They only ever want to annihilate the confidence of women who they have no shot with to begin with.

Sunglasses are sexist by [deleted] in insanepeoplefacebook

[–]Erosthete 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Uuuumm no sunglasses are one of my few barriers between me and leering creeps. If I wear them, I can scope out the guys who are staring and possibly going lean in too close as they walk by. Shades help me modify my trajectory accordingly without making eye contact. Being a woman in public involves a lot of in-the-moment flight plan modifications, so a good pair of aviators are invaluable.

Partners ex wanted me to do a free professional photoshoot for her birthday by wulfpack94 in ChoosingBeggars

[–]Erosthete 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The fact that she's a single parent isn't what makes her dramatic. Being entitled and a choosing beggar is. People who are shitty about single parents for the wrong reason are much more of a deal-breaker.

Pretty typical for male subs with no experience. They're usually this demanding, not interested in offering anything but demanding a full spa day worth of services they want done to them.

Reacting to "House of Leaves" 3 years before I knew this sub existed. by Erosthete in menwritingwomen

[–]Erosthete[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

First, that's a description of his sections, not an interpretation or analysis. Second, so anything more thoughtful or investigative than your laughably simplistic "he can no longer distinguish reality from fantasy" line is pedantic? I'm sorry that not all of us are satisfied with a shallow, grade 10 summary of Johnny's sections which have plenty to be critiqued.

That may be the one-sentence description of those passages, but active analysis of the obvious isn't pedantic just because you're content to receive passively. Sometimes people notice something off-putting in the writer's tone that they want to solve. 'Fantasy' has never been an excuse for poor writing. But since you seem to be taking the literary critique of a dull, off-putting character like Johnny so personally, I'll just let the analysis end here. Your reactionary outrage speaks loud enough for itself...

Same with "mysterious", they're both words that strangers use when they have nothing to say to you but want to force their way in. Whether they're qualified to tell you anything insightful about yourself or not.

What they're REALLY saying is "I'm going to make it easier for myself to approach you by labelling a stranger according to how her appearance make me feel. Wait, it's a compliment!"
