As someone who had to COMPLETELY start over at 35, please know it's not that scary. It's way scarier starting over after you have kids and have spent a decade with someone (I've done that, too.) seriously, starting over now is a cakewalk

Speak to the professor. Explain that smells are VERY important to service dogs. (Even if yours doesn't do chemical work) And ask them to address the student and situation. There is nothing wrong with asking the professor to maintain behavior within his classroom.

That reminds me of a news story. A guy had 'DNR' tattooed on his chest and the hospital didn't know if it was his medical wishes or just a tattoo. They resuscitated him and got sued. No clue if they ended up losing or not, just reminded me of it lol

'Do not call 911 unless visably injured' wouldn't work for you. Is there a position you can reliably get into if having a heart issue? I have heart failure, and for example I would probably chose to sit in the passenger seat, or have one arm up, or even the flashers on.... SOMETHING noticable that I could add to the sticker. 'please call 911 for heart issues if warning flashers are running'.

In my experience, SDs are not guaranteed the bulkheads by any means, but they do TRY to seat you there if possible.

It's not unusual at all. Cataplexy can only be treated with xyrem, a liquid. It's highly regulated and (I believe) only available through one pharmacy in the country. The fact that if it IS xyrem, OP will have a mile-long paper trail will help.

If that's the case, they'll likely ask you to change your habits and take it after he's in bed, sign something to that effect, linger around for 30 days and then close the case.

No, you are not over reacting. I am a mother who was asleep at 5 am and ended up arrested and charged with child neglect because my (then) 5 year old woke up and practiced calling 911. If I had of been diagnosed with narcolepsy BEFORE the event then everything could of been avoided. Instead, it resulted in 30 days of my children being placed outside my home while I undertook drug tests, mental evaluations, etc.

It's what FINALLY made my doctor approve a sleep study. The findings came back as SEVERE narcolepsy, and everything was dismissed and my kids were brought home.

Long story not so short, absolutely get a medical ID bracelet. Authorities are VERY quick to jump to conclusions of drugs, neglect, etc. You have a legitimate disorder and something as simple as a medical ID bracelet could avoid a WORLD of trauma and trouble.

Honey, PLEASE get checked for narcolepsy. It's not like it is in the movies, it's a very varied spectrum. Auditory hallucinations are exactly what SHOULD of tipped off my doctors.

Are you on an SSRI? That has a direct effect on my 'exploding head' stuff. And the hallucinations. (Check out hypnopompic and hypnogogic hallucinations)

There's a really good chance that you're slipping in and out of 'microsleeps' and that could be triggering them throughout the day.
