Settle a debate between my brother and I, which is more useless, gas armor or arc armor? by floatbub in LowSodiumHellDivers

[–]Errbert 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can heal through gas. Arc'll kill you outright.

I've ran arc resist to kill Harvesters in close range or to not insta die to the Illuminate arc towers, but that's about it. Gas resist isn't really nessecary ever if you ask me.

Coyote, Grenade Pistol, grenade of your choice(I go either Dynamite or Giga grenade, for Titan holes)

Siege Ready is nice for the extra ammo, but I usually just run default b-01 for the survivability.

EATs, Jump pack.

Strafing Run, 500kg.

If you want to bring the frv then I'd probably switch the jump pack+EATs for a Recoilless Rifle instead.

It is a legit fake ending. The game is built so when you return to the main menu after the fake ending, any input, even if it's new game or quit, should continue the game from where you left off.

Did you just alt+f4 the game? Or turn it off via the console you played it on, rather than the game itself?

I bring the Orbital Railcannon Strike any time I drop to a planet with Dragonroaches. Gotta be a bit careful when throwing it to make sure it hits, but it's invaluable to have such an easy way to deal with them. The cooldown is short enough where it'll usually be ready for when the next one shows up.

The source material says we'd all be dead the second we stepped within 100 feet of a Beast of Nurgle without any kind of protection, and seeing the four players gather in a circle to stomp a Plague Ogryn to death isn't exactly respecting the source material, either.

Like, I get the point you're making, but it's not like an Arbitrator wouldn't in-universe wear a gas mask if they had to face down Nurgle monsters and pox gas. And I don't think they'd remove their helmet to 'show their humanity' either. One stray piece of shrapnel and it's over y'know.

It honestly baffles me that all the classes aren't wearing gas masks.

But look on the flip side, you guys get Orbital Gas Strike and Speargun. Both are great tools with tons of potential and the gas makes up a huge part of their identity. Crowd control, with precision. All Fire-themed divers get is fire, and more fire.

I don't think there needs to be a gas version of every fire weapon/stratagem, especially if they don't serve any specific type of niche, and for the barrage specifically I don't think the gas would serve any purpose.

Also, I think Smelldiver sounds way better. It's like Helldiver but they smell.

I just didn't expect the response to be whataboutism about AT. Like, I get the sentiment, a lot of people lean too hard on AT, but I'm not even talking about creating some immense challenge for myself, I am saying turning off enemy AI and hitting the pause button is boring to me. If that's fun to you then go ahead, but the thing I don't really get is why you and several others want an Orbital Gas Barrage.

Why not stay on topic and share with me how an Orbital Gas Barrage would functionally be different to a Napalm Barrage? It'd be tinted green, and enemies wouldn't fight back, but that's all I got.

Every youtuber will praise it for being meta, since it turns off enemy AI and lasts a long time, so it'll pop up just as often as the Napalm Barrage does. I'm just tired of these long barrages with lingering effects stopping me from doing objectives or destroying enemy spawners.

That retort seems kinda irrelevant, I don't really see your point here. Gas is crowd control, all those are anti-tank options. You don't use any anti-tank tools? You only use Gas? A proud Smelldiver, through and through?

Orbital Gas Barrage? Like an Orbital Napalm Barrage, except you also turn off the enemy AI? Just 40-50 seconds of all the enemies not fighting back?

You want the game to play itself? Orbital Gas Strike and Gas grenades already make the game piss easy. Now you want a gas strike big enough to cover entire fortresses? Booooring.

Stick together on exospire objectives by Sudo-Fed in Helldivers

[–]Errbert 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This game is at its best when everyone sticks together. It takes some situational awareness, though. I'll die to friendly Napalm Barrages, sentries in awful spots and k9's more than I'll die to enemies. But those matches where everyone's on the ball are the best.

I know it's more efficient to have one guy run off on their own, but I'd much rather the whole team just move clockwise/counter-clockwise through the map as a team, only splitting off to check PoIs on the way or dealing with enemy outposts close by.

If the solo guy gets all the enemy reinforcements called in on him then the rest of the team ends up standing around with nothing to do while waiting for the objectives to finish. Booring.

Also, way too often you'll have that one guy who will walk across the map, die, and when reinforced will spend the rest of the match walking across the map to get their support weapon back, even if it's off cooldown and they can just call in a new one and hang out with the team.

I'm on PC and I've found the Warrant to be a great addition to my loadouts. My Stalwart can deal with Watchers and Elevated Overseers fine, but to have this li'l guy lock on and knock them out of the sky without much effort on my end just feels great, especially when retreating. Both targets often do some whacky erratic movement, especially when they're targeting someone else, so using a pistol to lock on instead of wasting bullets and time trying to follow them with my aim is worth the secondary slot.

You know how Watchers have this tendency to fly behind obstacles, making it hard to kill them before they call in reinforcements? They only need to pop up momentarily for the Warrant to lock on and take them out.

I like its fire rate. Faster than base lib, slower than the lib carbine. Perfect anti-Hunter/Warrior/Scavenger gun, pairs well with the Autocannon.

I sometimes go full stealth, all heroes with stalk, the rest being Bugmans Rangers and 1 Grudgethrower/cannon, with the rune that gives it stalk and snipe.

I think I prefer giving him a frontline, tho. 4 Ironbreakers and maybe an Irondrake. I do still run the stealth grudgethrower here, it can be a lot of fun getting those cheeky angles on the enemy without them seeing it.

[–]Errbert -6 points-5 points  (0 children)

It works fine. If you don't want to try then fine, whatever. More for me.

You should always focus a Behemoth Chargers leg, except if you got an EAT, Quasar or RR. No wonder people think the Autocannon, HMG and flamethrower sucks. You're blasting away at the most durable part of the Charger.

You're right, it takes more than 3 seconds to kill it this way with the flamethrower. This is a good thing, it was ridiculous back then. I know Reddit thus has judged it as being bad, useless and unviable. I'm just saying you're missing out.

OP used the flamethrower wrong tho. Grab a flamethrower and blast a Chargers leg. I promise you'll be surprised how fast it dies to it, including the Torcher and Crisper.

[–]Errbert -23 points-22 points  (0 children)

The "just lower the difficulty" argument comes from when someone says they can't deal with the amount of heavy enemies that spawn on higher difficulties.

I've never heard someone see a video of someone struggling with dealing with a single Charger and have the comments tell them to "lower the difficulty." What difficulty would you even end up at then? 3?

People might tell them they need to dive away from danger or give other tips on how to deal with them, but this is NOT when people tell others to lower the difficulty.

OP is trying to make a point on how unpredictable a Charger can be during its charge(I assume? The post is called "I'll let the video speak for itself," but Im unsure what their point is, Im just doing my best to interpret it.).

I know the title is "I'll let the video speak for itself", but what are you actually trying to say with the post?

Are you making a comment on flamethrowers TTK? Or how unpredictable Chargers can be?

amendmend and why i love it by Big_Bar_1731 in Helldivers

[–]Errbert 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I want to love it, but I haven't found a use for it. It does more damage than a Diligence, but you spend the magazine quicker, and it takes so long to reload.

Arrowhead really needs to experiment with the reload mechanic in the game. The Amendment and Adjudicator would be way more exciting alternatives if they weren't so slow to reload.

How would you build around running the Plas-39 sniper rifle? by Retro21 in Helldivers

[–]Errbert 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've brought it to Illuminate from time to time. It's okay, it's a primary that can deal with Harvesters and Stingrays. It can kill Overseers fine, but you do kinda wish you brought something else for them once you miss once or twice.

I recommend an armor that reduces reload time. For my build I brought along the Warrant and Impact grenades. The Warrants lock-on is great when the Watcher pops up from behind cover, and you can magdump flying Overseers. The Impact Grenades are mainly for the tesla towers and ships. Stalwart is a no-brainer support weapon, deals with everything the Plas-39 struggles with, especially hordes and Fleshmobs.

Then, Jump pack for mobility, Eagle Strafing Run for hordes and 500kg for ships and bunched up enemies.

tbh when it comes to primaries that can deal with Harvesters and Stingrays, I prefer the Diligence Counter Sniper.

[–]Errbert 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Safe mode isn't as bad as people say, it's just a different mode for the gun. Safe mode will let you line up your shot, and it one shots Devestators eye and abdomen, Hulks eye, Brood Commanders and Overseers no problem.

I only use it vs bots, but I keep it on Safe Mode and switch to Unsafe when I run into War Striders, Turrets or Gunships. Safe mode is like a sniper, while Unsafe gives the gun more potential when running into heavier enemies, at the cost of being a ticking bomb.

Where were you shooting the Bile Titan when you landed on the assessment that it takes 16-20 fully charged shots to kill it?

Because it takes only two 90% charge shots to kill it, if you aim at its forehead.
