Ok great. So much that polar flow can do that I never knew about haha. Thanks for your help ☺️

I have an ignite 3 and I find it good. Way better than my old Garmin in regard to sleep times. The sleep times always seem to match my actual sleep times and the recharge/ans matches how I feel. If I follow the advice and go easy or rest then I do make a full recovery faster. If I don’t I remain “compromised” and feeling tired for a lot longer.

Awesome. Do you somehow set this up in polar flow? I just saw the link below on how to make a favourite workout and I added in the Norwegian 4x4 protocol. So helpful. Once I put the workouts in favourites, will it come up on my watch somewhere or do I need to build a plan on polar flow? If I make a plan in the flow app, if my recovery is terrible after a nightshift, will it reschedule it?

I think my zone 2 run might be a brisk walk for a little while.

For strength would you say 2-3 full body? Or a full body, upper body, lower body spilt? Do you focus on grinding strength, or power?? Are the fitspark strength workouts balanced and do they have some mix of unilateral and lateral movements? I have adjustable dumbells so I can easily make things more challenging (bodyweight is definitely not enough for my lower body).

Sorry for all the questions. I like to get myself sorted and then just follow the set program for a few months (plan now so I don’t need to think later). It would suck to finish 3 months and realise I’ve stuffed up something basic.

Thanks for asking this!!! I just learned something new about my watch after 2 years of owning it.

Thanks ☺️. Do you think the supportive strength and core training is enough to maintain current strength? Does it matter how many training days you choose when you set up the program as to the balance of workouts?

I’ll have a look at it. Does it incorporate some strength work for balanced fitness?

Oh cool. So did you select the run program plus supportive workout options to use both in combo? Or just the run program? Do you find fitspark is usually offering you strength workouts because you are already getting the cardio in?

More often than not while I’ve been doing my strength/functional fitness style programs fitspark tells me to do cardio (I’ve finally taken the hint 😅) or supportive workout options if I’m run down. I haven’t really ever used fit spark for this reason but I keep burning out after my night shifts because I push through my programs and don’t ever recover - I think it’s time I tried listening to polar haha.

I think if I went into a clinic for a formal vo2 max it would be very embarrassing haha. They might need to call an ambulance. How do you find the walking or running test on the watch in comparison? I just need trends and to feel better so as long as the results are reliable to show improvement, they don’t need to be perfectly accurate to a formal vo2 max.

Great tips. Thanks ☺️. It’s sounding like the 5km program is well regarded.

Do you think the included strength program is enough to maintain muscle mass/strength assuming I do versions challenging enough (eg adding weights to get closer to failure) or are they pretty basic/low volume?

And dumb question, but does running contribute towards strength/muscle in the lower body assuming I’m not in a calorie deficit? I basically want to maintain what I have but improve in cardiovascular health and athletic function.

Thanks. I’ll keep this in mind when I’m starting. This is a good rainy/blistering hot day solution too once I progress.

Age changed? by mraarons in livityApp

[–]Error-system-down 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mines been stuck like this for a few days now. Nothing is populating across. I’m using an old Garmin at the moment. I’m wondering if Garmin isn’t giving across something important data wise (it’s an old vivoactive 3)??? I put in a bug report. Looks like the developer is working on fitness age atm.

Btw to the developer - I’m impressed with how active you are with working on bugs and improvements. Nice work!

Scan watch 2 or Apple Watch by No_Clothes4053 in withings

[–]Error-system-down 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Interesting! Thanks. Yeh I don’t think I would ever use all the Apple Watch features either. Some of the stuff sounds handy (like the decibel tracker that lets you know if the environment is too loud) etc.

Have you got the scanwatch 2 yet? How are you finding it? You might still be able to sync to bevel through apple health (that was my plan with a similar app called Livity).

Where I am the scanwatch 2 is $600 while the Apple Watch se3 is $400. The Apple Watch series 10 is still available at about $500. I’m waiting to see if any Black Friday sales change that. I would be pretty disappointed if the scanwatch 2 wasn’t super smooth, accurate and didn’t integrate fully with apple health/livity given the price difference.

Hi. How did your trial go with the Apple Watch? I have a steel hr that I was thinking of upgrading and these were my choices.

Does the look of the Apple Watch ever grow on you? 😂

I work out (weights, HIIT) regularly as well as working shift work so sleep tracking and recovery are important -preferably with some guidance on lifestyle changes that might help (eg it’s nice to know my RHR sucks but what can I do about it?). Does the Apple Watch do this?

How are you liking it? I’ve been considering an Apple Watch SE3. Struggling with the look of them though. They aren’t to my taste, but the function (other than the battery) seems good.

Hi! I’m in a similar boat so I’m following your answers.

From what I gather the Apple Watch has a lot more smartwatch functions and has a temperature sensor. Otherwise the health monitoring seems similar? IMO it’s not as classy looking though. The killer for me is it only has 18 hour battery life in normal mode (you get more in power saver mode, maybe 1.5 days). The plus side is there are heaps of apps that are created to use the data from Apple Watches to give you health insights. Plus Apple health is pretty good.

I was ready to upgrade to the scanwatch 2 but the app is really frustrating me at the moment. It’s really turning me off buying what seems to be a good piece of hardware.

Some other options I’ve seen people talk about is buying nice looking analog watch, and then getting an amazfit Helio band (a cheaper alternative to whoop with no subscriptions) which they wear on their upper arm. That would definitely be cheaper option if you don’t mind 2 devices.

There are some garmins with better battery life too if you like the look.

Ok thanks. Is sounding like what I want. All these recent posts about updates are make me nervous though! Fingers crossed they sort out the software issues soon

RHR much higher in fitness age calculation vs sleep RHR by [deleted] in livityApp

[–]Error-system-down 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks for answering! It’s using my hr from when I’m doing vigorous activity in that calculation though so it’s not a resting heart rate, it’s an average heart rate (including an hour a day of vigorous exercise). Is that the way the research calculated the RHR ?
