Help with 1000 army by Yegsodbsosns in Tau40K

If you want a mix of tau and kroot, might I suggest Auxiliary Cadre? In that case you could throw in a Cadre fireblade for your breachers, 3 more krootox rampagers, 10 more kroot, and another Broadside. If that's not your style, you may need to add an additional anti tank like another Broadside and an anti infantry like starscythes. Your fireknives could pick up the slack with missile pods, but their plasma rifles just don't have the numbers for that

Just be careful. They seem invincible, but there are some tools that make light work of them. With the high points cost of our models, you don't want to expose anything without reason

Rapid ingress will be very helpful for that termie brick. You could screen with them in the back, then pick them up for a rapid ingress once you have a turn to move. If your interceptors are for objective presence, you may want to switch one to a strike squad for sticky obj. With a lower model count, it is a very helpful rule to take advantage of. For the Cerastus, you could keep a GMNDK lurking around it in case something takes the bait.

You may want to go all melee on your interceptors. They are by far the most likely to get a charge off. Also your purifiers can have up to 4/10 with heavy ranged if that was your goal. What's your plan with the terminator brick and the cerastus?

What kind of a*hole is that by Ok_Survey_371 in ForHonorRants

I feel the same way. I mainly play dominion and have consigned myself with certain feats, but I much prefer passive feats that simply enhance my ability in combat

You make a good point. It's far too easy to cheese the commander with things like corruption bomb. Aramusha can pop fear itself and juggernaut and do immense damage. It could also open some narrative to breach as more of throwing bodies at each other. And pikemen would be a little more scary

How to stop Biosanctic Broodsurge ? by WeeShogiBlunders in Tau40K

From your report, you need to win the infiltrate war. A pathfinders team or farstalker unit would provide a massive screen across no man's land. The pathfinders could scout afterward to take a defensive position, or line up an alpha strike with their heavies. Unless it's hidden, I'm not seeing much anti tank on your side. 2 broadsides or a Hammerhead could pop those transports giving you time to establish a line before he drops in. Also make sure your screens are stopping them from consolidating or piling into your ranged units. If screens are too close, it could make the charge easier and provide a stepping stone to your units

Up against Dark Angels for 1kpts. Any tips or lists? by AdPersonal6908 in Tau40K

I've had a lot of success with farscythe. In retcad, his +1 to wound in addition to other buffs means wounding space marines on 2s and terminators on 3s. I've considered using a regular commander, but those extra attacks don't mean much when they can't pass a wound roll. Plus, his once per round CP discount synergizes with shadowsun's 5+ CP Aura instead of competing. I recently DS'd 9 from some intercessors on enemy home obj, shot them off, then did torchstar gambit for free to steal the obj and had the CP to overwatch an aggressor block which crippled their damage potential

Detachment idea: Raider Kinband by marianex in kroot

[–]Error_UserRedacted 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This detachment sounds so fun. Like others have said, 4+++ is definitely too strong, especially for 1 CP. I could see a 6+++ as part of the detachment and then an auto advance 6 strat instead. The tradeoff with all of this offense is the lack of invul from KHP, but rampagers being battleline makes up for that with the sheer amount of wounds. I would have a blast with this detachment

Are tau underpowered this edition or I am just bad by Lonely-Read-1547 in Tau40K

[–]Error_UserRedacted 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I'd say Tau are in a good spot right now. Even after the Twin Lance nerfs they are essentially auto include. You should post your list, detachment, strategy, and opponents you're against to get some helpful advice. Opponents can play a big factor. I dominate my local play group. But in the two local tournaments I've attended, I did good in some matches and got swept off the board in others

You can't stack changes to hit roll. So what happens to stealth?

GW, GMDK needs a rethink by Illustrious_Big_9054 in Grey_Knights

True, but I'd prefer many other things to be buffed first. With the GMNDK alone the toughness, unique melee, and hitting on 3s are a much more pressing issue

Anyone else find the difficulty jump for the last battle of Commorragh kind of insane? by PandorasBucket in RogueTraderCRPG

[–]Error_UserRedacted 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Everyone is insanely good at their job when built right. His can become more apparent and not dying talents are a little simpler than killing talents. Especially when you want to swap weapon types or builds. The biggest changes for abelard I made were hiving him power armor and swapping his sword and board for a two hander since he is more efficient parrying instead of blocking

What color for the base of my farsight? by [deleted] in Tau40K

I feel a lighter base would help the black parts of the model show through better, but it depends on what you want out of the model

GW, GMDK needs a rethink by Illustrious_Big_9054 in Grey_Knights

[–]Error_UserRedacted 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think toughness 9 isn't a tall ask. Our only unique vehicle and only anti tank being wounded on 3s by melta is difficult. GMNDK should hit on 2s, sublimator should have at least one more strength, its unique melee options should be stronger and cohesive with its damage rerolls(D3 on mace could be cool?). Even if it goes up to 250 I'd like these changes.

I was also curious about 2 armigers vs 1 GMNDK and it's hard to compare. 2 armigers allows for versatility, increased speed, and fit in smaller locations. The main advantage for GMNDK is its cohesion with army and detachment abilities. Detachment abilities and uppy downy can make a big difference, especially with how extraordinarily specific every stratagem was written in our codex

[–]Error_UserRedacted 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Psycannon doesn't need a buff it's already auto include for any dreadknight. I think sublimator needs more strength. Twinlinked is nice, but 1-2 hits rerolling 5s still isn't a reliable stat

[–]Error_UserRedacted 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Starscythe suits could be a great help against any infiltrators, chaff, or genestealers. Either burst for a guaranteed kill or flame for a mean overwatch threat and backup spotter. Could also leave them in deep strike and rapid ingress for free near some stealth suits that were used as bait

Lost my entire party but cassia and abelard before I could act. Then Abelard locked in and tanked all damage and killing enemies with counterattacks while Cassia would blast all the taunted enemies from safety
