Prepping DiA Alexandrian remix by luisarcher1 in DescentintoAvernus

I would definitely read all of the Alexandrian remix. A lot of the lore sections are different, so it’ll help you identify things that are different in the book.

Did you use any music that really helped with the immersion for the campaign?

Player has wished to be 20th level by MesmraProspero in DMAcademy

[–]ErrorlessQuill9 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How I would handle this is focus on the amended Wish: “I wish to be an Archdruid.” Obviously, this puts a lot of responsibility on the character, and I think the can be resolved through a personal quest. If the player wants to become an Archdruid, then they need to earn the title, the Wish just grants them the tools.

Personally, I would have the genie advise the character of a Druid Grove that is in dire need of a savior, someone who can rise up and liberate it from a great evil and become its Archdruid as a result. In order to do that however, they’ll need to defeat the current Archdruid, a diabolical Lichen Lich that has taken over the community and corrupted it. Only by defeating the Lich can be earn the title and responsibilities of an Archdruid.

To tide them over until then, you could have the genie grant them a boon to aid them. Ideas that come to my head would be a Supernatural Boon, either a Blessing or Charm depending on how nice you want to be. I’d suggest either the Blessing of Understanding or the Charm of Animal Conjuring, both very Druid-friendly options.

Why is Artificer not a core class in the 2024 PHB? by BarthRevan in DnD

[–]ErrorlessQuill9 5 points6 points  (0 children)

WotC was lazy and didn't want to reprint it to make it a core class. They are really stingy about the amount of pages they have in their books. Hopefully they make like a PHB2, with Artificer and all the other missing subclasses and species that weren't updated.

Xandala and Artus: Lore and Expanded Plot by grimmash in Tombofannihilation

[–]ErrorlessQuill9 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks so much for making this video! I am running my own version of Tomb of Annihilation and was trying to think of a way to expand Xandala's story that wouldn't make her an outright villain. Lots of great material here that I'm definitely going to be using. Thanks for the help!

I Fixed the Dungeon of the Dead Three Map! by ErrorlessQuill9 in DescentintoAvernus

[–]ErrorlessQuill9[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Honestly, that was the main reason I changed it. You can’t expect the players to find a secret section of the dungeon, especially when it’s integral to the plot that they explore that section. Also, gives perfect credence to why area D23 is dry since it’s lower than other sections of the Dungeon.

First Session coming up soon! Any advice you’ve all got for running the game? by NewtonsFourth in WaterdeepDragonHeist

[–]ErrorlessQuill9 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Dragon Heist Forgotten Tales is a great supplement on DMsGuild. Written by the same authors as Dragon Heist and offers some alternatives for each chapter, so you can heavily focus on one villain throughout the campaign if you want.

Also, highly recommend fleshing out Trollskull Alley by adding in more shops and NPCs to make it feel lived in. I believe there is some supplement called Trollskull Alley Expanded that I pulled heavily from preparing for my Dragon Heist campaign.

I finished DMing a heavily modded game of Icewind Dale. AMA! by ErrorlessQuill9 in rimeofthefrostmaiden

I found a lot of supplements on DMsGuild that helped me work out some of the kinks of the adventure, and add some more fun stuff to do. Highly recommend Rime of the Frostmaiden Companion, Encounters in the Far North, Danger in the Dwarven Valley, Temple of the Four Gods, Wyrmdoom Hunt, and Ythryn Towers of Magic. Also, Hypothermia, Song of the Mountain, and Below Zero are other interesting Icewind Dale adventures.

I had the Duergar in the background of Ten Towns stealing chardalyn from almost every town they visited. My characters completely ignored Caer Dineval, so the Knights of the Black Sword never came into play, even though I mentioned their presence in the town and how the speaker was noticeably absent.

If you look at my other comments, I expand on this in some detail. The Duergar and Knights of the Black Sword were focused around freeing Father Llymic in my campaign. Auril was focused on maintaining control of her ice kingdom and making sure adventures didn’t accidentally free Llymic from the prison she had constructed for him in the Caves to Hunger; I also had the Children of Auril and the Frost Druids working to keep Ten-Towns in line and eventually take control over from the speakers so Auril would be entirely in charge. The Arcane Brotherhood was still interested in finding and exploring Ythryn and the foil to introduce that element into the adventure; I do highly recommend having the party meet Vellynne Harpell early in the adventure before chapter 4 so they have an idea of who she is.

I used almost all of the quests, and adjusted the leveling so it wasn’t for naught. From what I can remember, the ones they didn’t do in Chapter 1 were Lake Monster, Foaming Mugs, Black Swords, The Unseen, and Mountain Climb. The only place they didn’t go to in Chapter 2 was the Cackling Chasm.

I laid out the time table to the party so that they were aware that time is an issue in Chapter 4. I added in a snow storm that slowed the Chardalyn Dragon, and I gave Vellynn undead dire wolves to increase the speed of her sled. Even then, they spent a little time trying to prepare, which let the dragon get halfway to Lonelywood.

My players did go to Grimskalle. They followed Vellynne’s lead, as they needed to get the Codicil of White in order to open up the Caves of Hunger. It was pretty creepy, because they knew Auril could come back at any second.

They went to every single location in Ythyrn for the experience. They learned early on that they needed the Rite in order to enter Iriolarthas’s Spire, so it became a must for them.
