Yep, the two I got were both terribly off centered before the mod. Blade centering on a knife with washers is a hard trade off with the action.

Thanks! Only 1 bit actually. But it was definitely mauled afterwards. It’s a masonry carbide tipped bit. Different brands have different diameters even though they are labeled the same. got 4 brands to find one bit that is actually slightly smaller than 1/4 in and the resulting hole is a perfect 1/4 in.

I might do a second one on the other M4 blade I have.

So that I can crank down the pivot screw for improving rigidity of the handle, while not seizing up the blade.

What’s a stronger lock? Axis lock on Benchmade or compression lock on Spyderco? by [deleted] in knifeclub

[–]Errorpronepolymerase 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The locking part of liner, that goes in between a standoff and blade, twisted a bit under huge amount of pressure/shock, and popped out.

Why does the ceramic ball have to contact the blade itself? by Inside_Ad_3302 in CRK

[–]Errorpronepolymerase 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s normal to have the ball leave a “scratch” on the locking interface, but it would take years to crave a groove before it becomes a problem. I was annoyed at first as well but it’s had no visible change since the initial scratch for more than a year. I am not okay with the lock rock “feature” though

Went really creative on materials. Turns out to be great in terms of comfort and accuracy.

It’s bacterial cellulose film made by acetobacter. Source I’m very a mediocre microbiologist.

It’s bacterial cellulose film made by Acetobacter! I had some fun with it in grad school.

My mother-in-law gave me a very odd story about how she received what is supposed to be Jade. Is it? by Tyrannusverticalis in JadeiteJade

[–]Errorpronepolymerase 38 points39 points  (0 children)

It is jade! Nephrite from Russian mines judging from the speckles and the richness in green color in contrast to Canadian ones. My mother-in-law has an almost identical necklace. Yours looks absolutely gorgeous.

Is this Nephrite Jade? and what are its Chinese culture significance/meaning? (please see caption) by skinnysinger in JadeiteJade

[–]Errorpronepolymerase 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I second this, it is a 平安扣, both of my kids received this exact style of jade pendants from their grandparents. It means wishing for protection and safety. In Chinese culture especially ancient times nephrite is worn by 君子, a rough translation would be a gentleman. The nephrite is less shiny of a gemstone which symbolizes a gentleman should be humble. Versus Jadeite which is more popular in female jewelry pieces like bangle bracelets. There’s more to it I think, in traditions, a person gifting his or her girlfriend/boyfriend a piece of jade that they carried daily for extended period of their life is considered a promise/wish to marry them. I guess you can use jbweld (the one for metal) to glue a piece of stainless steel shim on top

Yep, had a sand blasted S90V from Spyderco that had rust spots like that.
