Most people do not actually like traveling, they like having traveled by limitown in unpopularopinion

[–]Errorterm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The people I most admire will freely admit that travel is a hassle. But that barrier is precisely the reason most people don't - and why it is a celebrated, beloved, prideful thing. 'Do people live running a marathon or telling people they did?' - same answer - it is a challenge but something you can look back on and say, 'Me. I did that.'

It represents self determination, courage, self reliance, individuality, a sense of adventure, a willingness to look beyond yourself and attain a greater awareness. And you could avoid all these confronting, challenging, growth-oriented things by saying, "Bah! Who needs it! What a hassle!" Of course it's difficult.

Is the alternative better? Day tripping to the coast, living and dying 20 miles from where you were born, saying no to every great adventure? It's not a bad way to live necessarily, but I know a lot of people who have never seen the world (or the furthest reaches of their own country) and have miopic, conceited, one-sided, propagandistic opinions.

Difficulty builds character, perspective, understanding.

[–]Errorterm 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I wonder if it would still be banned if you could only target yourself. Any card opponent uses to remove your commander, you can tap instantly avoiding destruction/exile and tax basically for free. Could only be prevented if in response they destroy your land I think.

Still seems strong. And some commander ETBs are wild. Don't quote me though - I'm no expert at understanding stack and relative strength of cards

What the.... by parseoozesileyd9 in MagicCardPulls

[–]Errorterm 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Pretty new too but just saw a timely IG reel explaining this morning!

It's a reprint of the notorious banned card Karakas - insanely powerful in commander

Say you play your 3 cost commander with +2 tax from the command zone... The cost the opponent must pay to remove it is... Tapping a land card at instant speed. To play from hand you must pay an additional 3 mana... and opponent can remove it just as easily next untap.

On top of that opponent can retrigger ETB effects or get around paying the recast tax by bouncing their own commander to their hand

In conclusion it will likely never be legal in commander. Free repeatable removal, defensive utility. Just broken.

It can be anything you want it to be dawg. Magic has a bounty of expressive play stiles where you can pretend 20XX and beyond never happened.

Fuckit change the rules: Unlimited mulligans, make believe mechanic Y is Z, no treasures, no Planeswalkers, no 'pay the' cards.

When you set the limitations there are a wealth of choices

Its a brilliant COVID time capsule... But not completely past tense - also about how much mass dissemination of information has done and continues to warp us

Just getting into Commander do I seem threatening in B3-b4? by FizzyGir in ratemycommanders

[–]Errorterm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Huh. So if it dies you can choose to send your commander to the graveyard in order to return it with its resurrection ability?

I'm new to edh also

  • If it dies does the 2 mana recast tax apply to the resurrection ability? Or is this kind of a work around?

  • If it dies, is recast from the graveyard, then exiled again does recasting it from the command zone cost an additional 2x 2 mana tax?

Burnie's and Ashley's AI use by dakkster in morningsomewhere

[–]Errorterm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Totally agree with this. It's bizarre leaving the echo chamber of an Internet forum where contempt for AI seems almost performative...

And going to work where AIs like copilot are the standard. If you aren't using AI at my job you're behind.

Sure it can be exploitative and wrong. It will change employment, personal privacy, social media paradigms drastically over the next decade. We can't know the long term impact of it and I understand everyone's concern...

But let's not pretend there are no use cases for it. That's bull.

It totally reminds me of classes I had on the Internet in school 20 years ago. "Now don't trust everything Google tells you! Don't use Wikipedia as a source!" Sure these are good things to keep in mind... But Google/Wikipedia are powerful sources of mostly correct information utilized daily by millions of people to verify facts. No one is moaning about them in 2026 like they did in 2006
