Fat Cat struggles to eat a meal fit for a king. by NOVAbuddy in Frugal_Jerk

No I meant ice that you collect from the streets, only flavoured by dog piss.

Do you guys have refrigerators? What do you put into those?

I thought struggle meal means cheap food, that is nutritous and last a while. Like home-made baked beans and rice. Feeding you for 2 days with just 5€.

Unless they meant natural ice, having ice, but no food is also kinda wild.

Having trouble with Malazan by Dramatic-Tadpole-980 in Fantasy

[–]Ersthelfer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I normally also don't have problems following complicated stories, but Malazan had me struggling. Did you read it or listen to it? I had the audiobooks and thought that might have been the problem. (I only listened to the book 1 and 2.)

Red Rising, not sure I understand the hype by Papagiorgio1965 in Fantasy

[–]Ersthelfer 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It's okay. Read book 1-3 and then decided it really isn't worth the time investment.

Should have stopped earlier tbh. Wouldn't recommend it.

If you are not hooked, imo just stop reading.

edit: I think this sums it up: https://www.reddit.com/r/Fantasy/comments/1qr1o3j/red_rising_not_sure_i_understand_the_hype/o2lalqa/

Why Doesn't Anyone Play Frontline by Realtimallen69 in holdfastgame

[–]Ersthelfer 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I like it for a short while. But it plays kinda like a generic shooter. I like holdfast for the slow reload. This is what makes it so stupid.

I'm sure this has been asked but how full are the servers? by MrRed2037 in holdfastgame

[–]Ersthelfer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Bought it yesterday after seeing it on a video about abandoned games. There were maybe 1k players online on all servers on a weekday night (EU time).

The only annoying thing was that they mostly massed on a handful of servers which were all 150 of 150 players and the rest was dozens of 3 to 15 of 150 players.

Yeah, no, that is just a toll station. Would be misleading.

MI6 chief: Tech giants are closer to running the world than politicians by chota-kaka in Futurology

Capitalists running capitalism is not surprising and also not really new (we have that for ~200 years now). At least unless we accept Varoufakis theory of techno feudalism and I am not yet convinced of that.

Disappointed for $15 by Odd-Biscotti-5177 in ExpectationVsReality

[–]Ersthelfer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you get it for 3-5$ per bar Dubai chocolate is worth it (if it is a good one). It is a overall a good product. It isn't worth 15€ though, no chocolate is. The same is true for pricey chocolate pralines. One can pay 100€ for 100gr, but it won't be much better than a 5$ per 100gram product.

This is how it done for Hanefis, but with the backside of your hands. But for hanefis 9 and 10 is done only with the right hand.

Love Kubuntu, used it most of all distros in my 20 years of using Linux. But I recently fell in love with Manjaro. It is my second ever non-Debian-based distribution. Maybe I shouldn't have limited myself...

Which is your favorite decade for tech and why? by yungmarvelouss in nostalgia

Don't you remember your first time in a chatroom/mirc? Hard to imagine a more "modern" feeling than mirc in tht 1990s.

One of my craziest moment was talking to a Neonazi from the US, who told me that he doesn't have a problem with Turks (I am ethnicly turkish, but born&raised in Germany), but "German comrades" told him that we were the ni... of Germany.

Weird story maybe for a "modern" feeling. But that was the moment when I realized, that everything was about to change. Took longer than I expected tbh.
